As if we might be tempted to forget about the seven phase cycle of the challenging planetary dynamic (square formation) involving Uranus and Pluto, the third phase was marked by a violent tornado in Oklahoma as the square formation reached exactitude yesterday, May 20th, at 2:45 pm local time. This tornado was graded an F-4 in intensity. Less than one percent of all tornadoes have been graded F-4.
Uranus and Pluto will have made a total of seven exact alignments by the time the cycle ends in 2015. Not all of them will be marked with disasters. But when Uranus and Pluto enter into their dance every forty years or so, change is inevitable. These are the two most powerful planets in the astrological pantheon, and their interaction in a challenging interaspect creates destruction and rebuilding of any area of our life, political or personal, that is stuck in a past that no longer function.
Some of us are experiencing this on a very personal level if our own charts are affected by this cycle which will be especially intense for those of us who are 20-22, 40-42, 61-63 or 83-85 and undergoing a major Uranus transit of our own. Understanding that the framework of the world in which we live is shifting – that’s the key to successfully navigating these interesting times.

whenever we do a meditation on the pluto/uranus squares in our astrology group, uranus has appeared to me as a tornado…which to me has meant that it wants to affect change the quickest way possible. pluto on the other hand appears to me as a blue dragon (who wants to be meticulous and thorough)…it will be interesting to see if/how the blue dragon will manifest itself in our 3D world.
Uranus brings sudden events and tornadoes can come out of nowhere. However I have always looked at Pluto as having an effect similar to a tornado – your life can be uprooted, you find yourself spinning, and you have no idea where you will land.
This is just phase 3? When are the others expected?
Mary Lou, I’ve outlined the list of Uranus/Pluto events on this and other posts: https://www.lynnhayes.com/dev2017/astrologicalmusings/2013/04/21/an-incendiary-time-bombings-and-inspiration/
Thanks for this post, Lynn. I am coming up on my 62nd birthday (June 2nd) and have been feeling the tides moving beneath my feet. I agree with Maureen about Uranus being like a tornado. Uranus is at the top of my chart now, conjunct my natal Jupiter. Big changes and disequalibrium! Cosmic surfing for sure.
An additional note. Anyone who is around 61 is not just experiencing this Uranus square Pluto. These two planets are also currently impacting our natal Chiron in Capricorn, Saturn in Libra, Uranus in Cancer, and Pallas in Aries. We should be used to a Cardinal Cross energies by the old age of 61. But I for one am really looking forward to 2015. Geeze.
I’m in that group too, Nancy and have really felt that transit to natal Chiron over the past two years.
This week has been rough for me also. I’ll be 61 on October 18th — on another lunar eclipse! Sheesh! I hope this week’s eclipse will be nicer since it conjuncts my Ascendant. Oh well, just roll with it…
Glad I turned 43 on Monday. Sounds like this will be a very interesting time for some people. Isn’t there an eclipse today?
