Saturn and Neptune will align on February 20, 2026, a planetary combination which has been building since both planets entered Aries in the spring of 2025.

Saturn and Neptune are two different archetypes and serve two different purposes. As one of the visible planets, Saturn operates on an individual level and represents the need for the human life to achieve something meaningful. In order to accomplish this we are often given tests and hurdles to jump over before we can reach the goal. As an outer planet, sometimes called modern planets, Neptune serves a different purpose entirely – operating from outside the individual to inspire a transformational experience of transcendence. Experiences that go beyond the material world of consciousness fall under Neptune’s realm: Dreams, the subconscious, the imagination … any liminal experience that takes us beyond the limitations of the mundane.

Saturn is the planet of boundaries and rules, and Neptune’s role is to blur those boundaries and dissolve those rules but these two seemingly opposite forces can be harnessed for great reward. As an outer planet, Neptune brings transformative energy of creative inspiration and spiritual vision, and when paired with Saturn’s focus on goals and practical implementation, remarkable achievements can emerge.

Neptune entered Aries in March of 2025, followed by Saturn in May and the two were separated by only 20′ of arc from early July until early August so we already got a taste of what was to come. Both planets retrograded back into Pisces in the fall and Neptune will be the first to head back into Aries at the end of January, followed quickly by Saturn in early February.

The bigger story, to me, is the transition of both planets between Pisces and Aries. Pisces is a mystical sign of compassion and wonder, and Aries is a sign of aggression and blazing a new trail. Neptune’s shift from Pisces to Aries has already been a dramatic one. The planet that inspires us to yearn for the divine and transcend the mundane (Neptune) in the sign of the warrior and protector (Aries) isn’t a comfortable placement. I wrote a bit about this here and of course will be writing more, but watch for heightened espionage activity and a continued increase in misinformation and lack of clarity on a global scale. Saturn is said to be in its fall in Aries; the discipline needed to accomplish Saturn’s urge for structure can be lacking under the impulsivity of Aries. The combination of Neptune and Saturn in Aries, both uncomfortable placements, will hinder effective leadership and could foster confusion in our personal lives.

Still, there are unique and positive potentials in these placements, since Aries encourages us to try something outside of our comfort zone. With Pluto newly in innovative Aquarius, this could motivate us to embrace a new imagining of our lives as we enter an exciting new stage. The inspiration of Neptune could give a boost to our creativity, and Aries courage can help us to manifest with power and confidence.

The planetary transitions of 2025 set the stage for the second half of the decade, and now we pick up the pieces and put them back together in dramatic new ways.
