The two planets of freedom and liberation will come together this year and unlike most Jupiter/Uranus cycles we will only see one conjunction this time. The conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus occurs about every 14 years, and this time the conjunction takes place in Taurus. The exact conjunction occurs on April 20, but the two are now within five degrees of each other, the range in which the effects begin to be seen.
Alignments between Jupiter and Uranus, especially the hard angle aspects (conjunctions, squares, oppositions) ย are generally associated with the expansion of creative innovation and technological advances which force the advancement of society out of the comfort of the past into an unknown future.
Jupiter takes about a year to travel through a sign and has been in Taurus since May of last year. Taurus is associated with wealth and comfort, as well as our connection to the Earth and things like gardening and agriculture. Jupiter is expansive and optimistic, and since last May when Jupiter entered Taurus, the sign of money, the S&P index has ballooned.
Uranus is an outer planet, and I think of the outer planets as being transformational forces. They work on us from the outside, rather than define and describe our personality. Uranus urges us to break free from limitations and break out of routine – it encourages rebellion and radical change in the matters of the sign through which it travels. In Taurus, this ย drastic change has occurred in the realms of agriculture, finance (see also: Bitcoin). Back in 2018 I wrote:
“Uranus in Taurus could create some major changes in the way wealth is distributed around the world.ย Uranus is after all a revolutionary, and we could see something radical occur that would change the pattern of increasing disparity of wealth that has been the hallmark of Pluto in Capricorn which tends to consolidate power into the hands of the few.ย We are likely to also see radical changes in the way money is handled, including the proliferation of cryptocurrencies (which is already underway) and perhaps the breakdown of our currency systems.”
We did in fact see something radical occur to change the pattern of disparity of wealth, but not the one I was hoping for. Instead, during the COVID-19 pandemic the inequality of wealth distribution radically increased.
I usually like to look back in time to see what transpired during other similar planetary events; Jupiter and Uranus last conjoined in the sign of Taurus back in 1941 during World War II. Saturn was also involved which was a whole different flavor of contraction and repression. Still, with Pluto having just entered Aquarius and still in the doorway between Capricorn (tradition) and Aquarius (innovation), we are likely to see a rapid acceleration of fundamental societal changes in all areas of life.
Those of us (me!) with planets between 15 and 29 degrees of the fixed signs (Taurus, Scorpio, Leo and Aquarius) will be most affected by this planetary cycle. We may find ourselves feeling more jittery than usual, or feeling like we desperately need a change. This planetary combination can be very useful for personal growth, and to help propel us out of situations which hold us back and keep us stuck, but these fixed signs do not embrace change easily and can be disturbed by these radical feelings and influences.
This is a good time to embrace the grounding influences of Taurus: The love of the natural world, spending time in the gardens and forests, communing with the nature devas. Embracing all four elements at this time will help us to integrate the accelerating energies occurring at the moment, and self-examination will help us to understand where we need to embrace change in order to grow.
Did you mean to say Jupiter and Uranus last conjoined in Taurus in 1941? Because you said they are conjunct every 14 years.
They are conjunct every 14ish years in different signs. They haven’t been conjunct in Taurus since 1941. They were last conjunct in Pisces in 2010-11.
Thank you. You don’t say that in the section on 1941. That was what I’m pointing out. It was confusing and you are always very clear.
Oh I see Nancy! Yes that makes sense – I corrected the article. Thanks for alerting me to it. ๐
Oh, myโฆ.I have Uranus and Jupiter conjunct my 1st house Venus at 18 degrees.Uranus just passed Venus, but not by much. And I am feeling that jitteriness you spoke of! Changes for sure, but what could it be because I feel so stuck??.
Sometimes the more we stay stuck, the more we feel the edginess of Uranus. Letting go to see what happens will help alleviate the jitters and propel you into a more enlightened future. ๐
Thank you for your insights regarding this conjunction! It feels powerful for me already with Uranus conjunct MC trine Jupiter natal. It feels like a potent time for big moves:)
I think you’re right Jen!! ๐
Uranus conjunct Jupiter in the natal in late Cancer in the 6th. Last time they were in 2010 and ’11 was when I was getting my finances in order due to health problems, after being a widow. The conjunction took place near my 2nd cusp. This time it’s in my 3rd. I’m a Scorpio Sun so Uranus is coming away by now from an opposition to it. It has to do with my environment I think, clearing out the clutter of things and people, well, family problems that I don’t need the stress from. One of those things to do with boundaries, your problem not mine kind of thing. I have been learning to walk away and not be responsible for others, who are capable of being responsible for themselves.
The third house would involve siblings, potentially, and help to clear the clutter from communication. It sounds like you’re doing the good work Rachael. ๐
