Each of the visible planets in the sky describe a facet of human experience. In the natal chart, a planet in a particular sign describes the way that facet of experience will manifest in the personality. But planets also transit through the zodiac as they are moving through the sky relative to Earth, and these transitions can have more of a global effect.

Jupiter represents our search for meaning and experiences that help us to feel that life is worthwhile. The biggest planet in the solar system, it is associated with expansion and the faith that comes with an optimistic viewpoint. Under the influence of Jupiter we are able to expand our view of what is possible, and reach for big adventures and hopes.

Jupiter is said to be exalted in Cancer; the receptivity and emotional creativity of Cancer enhances the power of Jupiter to bring about positive influences in tribal loyalties. One notable and important aspect of zodiacal Cancer is what I call the “big heart for the world.” Cancerian people have an overwhelming capacity for global suffering and may experience this on a deep personal level. Jupiter expands even more the giant heart for the world of the Cancerian archetype, suggesting that the next twelve months while Jupiter is in Cancer could bring a focus to the less fortunate. With Cancer ruling the home, the problem of homelessness may come to the forefront of political dialogue with Jupiter in Cancer. There may be some expansion in the housing market which is currently depressed.

With so many planets entering new signs, Jupiter in the early degrees of Cancer will have quite a few planetary interactions over the next year;  most of them are a challenge because of Saturn and Neptune in Aries which conflicts with Cancer. Here are some important dates to keep in mind:

  • Jupiter enters Cancer June 9, 2025
  • Jupiter square Saturn June 15, 2025, followed by Jupiter square Neptune June 18, 2025.
    • This combination could evoke a great deal of confusion and frustration as goals and objectives (Saturn) don’t meet expectations (Jupiter) and are possibly obfuscated by a tangle of interference from outside forces (Neptune).
  • Saturn and Neptune will be within 1º of their conjunction in June and July which will not help matters.
  • Jupiter square Chiron October 23, 2025 – and again on December 21st because of the retrograde cycle.
    • Emotional sensitivity may be heightened and we may be forced into confronting old wounds which we have hidden from. This may be uncomfortable but it’s never a bad thing to release emotional blocks that keep us from finding our best selves.
  • Jupiter squares Eris November 2  and again on November 25 because of the retrograde cycle.
    • In my view, Eris manifests strictly on a global level rather than the personal. (I am open to changing my mind on this with more data!) But planetary aspects to Eris have brought about a relatively chaotic political environment so I am not expecting things in the world to calm down much this year.
  • Jupiter turns retrograde November 11, 2025.
  • Jupiter turns direct March 10, 2026.
  • Jupiter enters Leo June 30, 2026
