When Taylor and Travis announced their engagement, fans who have watched her go in and out of love for 20 years were thrilled. Finally, a happy ending for their girl whose soundtrack has been the backdrop to the lives of millions of young people for decades.
I wrote about Taylor’s relationships last year and you can read more about that here, but I thought this would be a good time for an update. Taylor (December 13, 1989) was born with the Sun in Sagittarius, the lucky and optimistic sign that can be somewhat fickle. Her Sun is unaspected, meaning it doesn’t interact with any of the other planets in the chart. People with unaspected Suns tend to make their own way in life, even though they may, and do, engage in relationships with others and even marry. But still, singleton Sun people tend not to merge their lives with anyone else’s. (Here is a breakdown of the controversy over Taylor’s time of birth and ascendant if that interests you – I am using the 8:36 am time as this one is accepted by most astrologers and makes the most sense to me. However it’s still a guess until verified.)
Unlike Taylor’s former fiancé Joe Alwyn, a very private person, Travis Kelce is a different guy altogether. (Born October 5, 1989 (time unknown) He has the Sun in Libra, lover of relationships, and it conjoins Mars to energize his chart and add more than a touch of competitiveness. His Moon is in optimistic Sagittarius and the Moon’s ruler (Jupiter) is in Cancer, the sign of the Moon (mutual reception). Saturn, the planet of discipline and achievement which is so strong in Taylor’s chart, is also strong in Travis’s chart since it squares his Sun, and Mars. Individuals with this placement often feel driven to prove that they are good enough. And his Venus is in passionate Scorpio, harmoniously tied to his Virgo Mercury which is pragmatic and disciplined.
Because they were born just a little over two months apart, many of their planetary placements are the same. His Jupiter conjoins her Jupiter (and Moon) which is wonderful for feeling good about each other. His Venus is conjunct his Mars, showing that his feminine side (Venus) relates easily to her masculine side (Mars) and gives them a good sense of polarity balance. But then his Uranus, Saturn and Neptune conjoin hers. His Pluto conjoins her Pluto, and his Chiron conjoins her Pluto. This is not always a good thing – intense outer planet alignments can add a great deal of intensity, and they will both go through major planetary cycles at the same time which can put stress on a marriage or partnership. There are some stress points between their charts: His Mars (aggression) squares her sensitive Cancer Moon which is already stressed by her own Uranus Saturn and Neptune trio, and therefore his as well.
Transiting Pluto began a transit to Taylor’s Venus in early 2024 as their relationship was beginning to look quite serious. Pluto is known for creating momentous changes in a person’s life, and this can sometimes feel like the death of something but also a rebirth. Travis has Venus in Scorpio and because Pluto is the modern ruler of Scorpio, that gives him a depth and intensity with respect to relationships which would mirror Taylor’s Pluto transit. The engagement apparently occurred a week or so before the announcement which would have been on or very near the date of the fourth phase of the Pluto transit to her Venus. But we also have some soft and beautiful transits: Both of them are not only in their Jupiter return, a 12-year cycle of abundance and possibilities and transiting Jupiter is hitting many of their natal planets, a very positive outlook.
Taylor Swift is America’s sweetheart, and we are all rooting for her and wishing her the very best in this new adventure.
