Planetary news this week: The SuperMoons begin!

Astrological update for the week of July 31 – August 7

Supermoons. If you’re subscribed to my Planetary Illuminations report you’ll read more about this tomorrow, but in August we are in SuperMoon season (™Richard Nolle). We have come to think of SuperMoons as being the giant white discs in the sky that occur at the Full Moon when the Moon is closest to Earth (perigee), but a New Moon can also be a SuperMoon. It’s the distance from the Moon to the Earth that creates the SuperMoon, […]

Planetary news this week: Planetary stations and Aquarius season begins with a bang

Astrological update for the week of January 16-23, 2023

art by Krystlez

Retrograde update. This week the last of the retrograde planes change direction, and we will have no planets retrograde until June. When there are no retrograde planets time tends to speed up; without the pull of the retrograde planets to review and re-discover, we tend to find our lives passing without much reflection. We can adjust our own intention to incorporate this reflection into our daily lives though, through ritual and routines which support our inner experience […]

Planetary news this week: The first Full Moon of the year

Astrological update for the week of January 2-9, 2023

artist unknown

Well folks, we made it to 2023: the year everything will change (see this post for more details if you missed it), and the portal to the door of change will begin at the Aquarius New Moon later in the month. Read on to know more!

Mercury is still retrograde and will not turn direct until later this month. In fact, the conjunction of the Sun to Mercury later this weeks marks the midpoint of that cycle. […]

5.25.21 – How to prepare for tomorrow’s Sagittarius Supermoon lunar eclipse

A lunar eclipse is a significant event, and when it is a total eclipse AND a SuperMoon (meaning closest to Earth) it has the potential to be quite powerful.  A lunar eclipse involves a conjunction of the Sun and Moon to the lunar nodes, the points that take us from the past to the future, so there is always a sense of something fated – a meeting perhaps, or even just an awakening of something within us which we have not previously recognized or which […]

Full Moon in Scorpio, April 26, 2021: Challenging the Saturn/Uranus square

Photo from PixelsTalk

A portion of this article was posted last week but has been updated.  All Full Moons are formed by a polarity between the Sun in one sign balanced against the Moon in the opposite sign. Each opposing pair is a cycle of energy that flows from one sign to the other, each sign containing what the other lacks. Scorpio and Taurus are both fixed signs, both are highly personal signs with one being ruled by Mars (Scorpio) and one by Venus (Taurus). Both are concerned […]

Weekend update: The meaning of the Libra Full Moon

artist unknown

The Moon will reach its peak fullness in Libra on Sunday March 28, 2021 at 2:48 pm EDT, but its energies are powerful throughout the weekend.  This Full Moon is a SuperMoon, being at perigee or its closest point to the Earth.  There is some evidence that a Supermoon has a stronger effect on the tides and geophysical events such as storms, earthquakes and the like. Personally, I experience the Supermoons as being much more intense and I tend not to sleep under their influence.

In any case, this weekend’s Libra […]

October 2020’s Libra New SuperMoon is a powerhouse of planetary energies!

Libra New Moonphoto by Stefano Uknar

Just like everything else in 2020 so far, this week’s New Moon in Libra on October 16 2020 has surprises in store for us.  First of all, it’s a SuperMoon™ (coined by astrologer Richard Nolle) which means that the Moon is nearing its closest proximity to the Earth at the time the Moon and Sun align from our perspective for the New Moon.  When a Full Moon is a SuperMoon, we see it larger than life in the […]

Sunday inspiration and the Virgo Full SuperMoon

photo by Laurent Laveder from Spaceweather

Under the influence of the Virgo Full SuperMoon (™ Richard Nolle) on March 9, 2020 we encounter a polarity between an urge to transcend life’s cold hard realities and the necessity of a well-defined and grounded life in the material world.  With the Pisces Sun conjunct Neptune for a double dose of Piscean glamour, magic, creative imagine, and potential for confusion, the scale is heavily weighted against the Virgo Moon which seeks to create order and find […]

New Moon in Libra: Healing karmic lessons from the past.

Once every month or so, we are given an opportunity to be reborn into a new zodiacal archetype when the Sun and Moon unite at the New Moon.  Each sign unfolds into the next as we move through the twelve archetypes of human existence, and we are given another opportunity to wipe the slate clean and begin anew, to create intention and to begin a cycle of growth.

This month the wheel has spun us into the Libra New Moon, which is also a Supermoon (™ Richard […]

Planetary news this week! Virgo Supermoon and astrological forecast February 18-25th, 2019

horoscopesThe planets are pretty earthy right now which can help us to find our feet in the ever-changing unfolding of experiences of life.  Not everyone loves the experience of stability and security and a realm of practicality where every decision matters, but as we cycle through the realms of intellect and thought (air), motivation and desire (fire), emotions and feelings (water) it’s helpful to have that earthy period to allow everything to settle and stabilize.

Mars (drive and motivation) just moved into Taurus last week and will be traveling through that sign until […]
