Sunday poetry for eclipse transformation

Art and poetry by Amara Bronwyn Hollow Bones

We locked up our wisdom into our bones

And swallowed the key

They sank in our rivers of blood

And we forget the maps

Because we had to forget the mysteries

To keep them safe

We wove our hair into brooms

And swept over our paths

And then burned the earth with our rage

We didn’t teach our children

it was the only way to protect them,
we thought

But in them we planted seeds, […]

Sunday poetry for the Retrograde Pause: Waiting

All summer we have been under a heavy retrograde influence which, cooperating with the pandemic, has served to put our lives on pause.  I thought this poem is the perfect piece for where we are right now – nearing the end of the retrograde pause but not quite there yet. ❤️

Waiting

Leza Lowitz

You keep waiting for something to happen,
the thing that lifts you out of yourself,
catapults you into doing all the things you’ve put off
the great things you’re meant to do in your life,

but somehow never quite get to.
You keep waiting for the […]

Sunday poetry: One Easy Step to Enlightment

This beautiful poem fits in so perfectly for the times we are living in today.  I hope you enjoy it!

First off, and I do mean first
You know in your heart
that the times are changing
Oh so much slower than we thought
and you know in your heart
that the good guys and the bad guys
don’t know any more than you what’s going on
End of the World?
End of Time?
I’m here to tell you
and yes that is my job
It doesn’t matter.

This moment and only this moment, matter
It […]

Sunday Poetry: In the silent breath

In times like these in which we have very little control over the outcome, finding a space where life still has meaning is critical to our ability to persevere.  This is an excerpt of a wonderful poem from Rumi.

How does a part of the world leave the world?
How can wetness leave water?

Don’t try to put out a fire
by throwing on more fire!
Don’t wash a wound with blood!

No matter how fast you run,
your shadow more than keeps up.
Sometimes, […]

Sunday poetry: Why not get started immediately

Verius Photography

We are just out of Cancer season, but Mary Oliver wrote this poem when she was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2012.  In these current times, we have been made aware of the finite nature of time and this poem is more relevant than ever. ❤️

The Fourth Sign of the Zodiac

1.
Why should I have been surprised?
Hunters walk the forest
without a sound.
The hunter, strapped to his rifle,
the fox on his feet of silk,
the serpent on his empire of […]

Sunday poetry to welcome the morning

In these days of Covid and retrogrades, many of the things which have brought us pleasure and hope in the past are no longer available to us. We are reduced to the small things, the things we have long ago stopped noticing in the haste to accomplish and do and be more than the day before.  The world may be opening back up, but the reality has not changed and our time in quarantine is likely not over.  If Covid is teaching us anything, it […]

Sunday poetry: A brokenness out of which comes the unbroken

art by Belinda Paton

Venus, planet of beauty and equanimity, has been challenged by a square from Neptune for the past month or so.  This can lead to confusion and an attachment to illusion, but it can also signify the breaking away of ideas and patterns to which we have been holding on tightly.  As we continue to explore new ways of living in the age of Covid-19, with hearts breaking from what is lost, there are cracks in the picture of our lives through which light […]

Sunday poetry: Awake to the Name

Deviant Art

Awake to the Name

To be born in a human body is rare,
Don’t throw away the reward of your past good deeds.
Life passes in an instant— the leaf doesn’t go
back to the branch.
The ocean of rebirth sweeps up all beings hard,
Pulls them into its cold-running, fierce, implacable currents.
Giridhara, your name is the raft, the one safe-passage over.
Take me quickly.
All the awake ones travel with Mira, singing the name.
She says with them: Get up, stop sleeping—
the days of a life are short.

Sunday inspiration: Poetry for Mars Retrograde

You have spent a lifetime
quietly mourning or ignoring
your losses and your lostness
with no funeral, no wake and no way
to nurture your joy.

Time for a burial.
No, for a burning!
For a great funeral pyre
that will light the night sky.
Then a festal meal of bread and wine.
And, from the ashes, perhaps some kind of rising.

Ian Adams Unfurling

As Mars prepares to retrograde, as it does every two years or so, it’s a good time to look back at these losses and our sense of “lostness” […]

Sunday poetry: What to remember when waking

The Sun has just moved into Gemini – we can shift into new shapes now and adjust to find new ways of living that better fit our souls.

What to Remember When Waking

In that first hardly noticed moment
in which you wake,
coming back to this life
from the othermore secret, movable
and frighteningly honest world
where everything began,
there is a small opening into the new day
which closes the moment you begin your plans.

What you can plan
is too small for you to live.
What you can live wholeheartedly
will make plans enough
for […]
