Pluto transits

Sunday inspiration: Creating the Now

In my own life, Pluto has been hammering my Libra stellium for the past two years (geeky astrological details: Saturn/Sun/Neptune squared by Uranus) and I have been forced to take a hard look at much of my life to see how the boxes I’ve put myself in (Saturn/Sun) have kept me from my longing to connect with soul (Neptune/Sun).  Uranus of course is always resisting boxes of any kind, and tends to want to keep things moving and ever changing.  In my heart […]

From the advice column: I’m surrounded by malicious people

astrological adviceQ: I am really struggling against all of the odds. Lots of malicious gossips, malicious people in general that I have to live among, give treatment to and build my business, which is virtually impossible and I’m running out of money. If you can see what steps may be best for me to make regarding business or earnings that would be a great help.

A: You are what we call a “Double Capricorn” – your Sun is in Capricorn and you have Capricorn rising, so the sign of Capricorn is very strong […]

Sunday inspiration: Waiting for the storm

I’m at the beach right now, waiting for Hurricane Florence to hit the North Carolina coast.  We know the storm is coming, but we don’t know when or where it will make landfall, and whether or not we will be able to stay out our week.

It struck me that this experience is very similar to the anticipation those of us who know something about astrology feel when we are waiting for a big planetary cycle to hit.  We know that something is going to happen, but we don’t know what.  Pluto […]

Sunday inspiration: Cut the storyline

This week’s Cancerian New Moon eclipse opposed transformative Pluto which is in an exact square right now to a complex system in my own natal chart that includes Saturn and the Sun.  I have been turning inside out as the energy of Pluto demands that I remain aware of the churning emotional and thought patterns that struggle to emerge and be released, just like little daemons I have carried with me throughout my life.  The retrograde travel of Mars is a great ally in this struggle to break free of the […]

The US has an illness, and this election is the symptom

Cartoon from Investors Business Daily Cartoon from Investors Business Daily

An explicit recording of Donald Trump’s misogynistic sexual harassment was just released last night, threatening to torpedo the halfhearted support of Trump’s Republican colleagues while creating very little stir among his passionate supporters.

Portions of this article appeared in earlier posts. The Sagittarius ascendant in the US chart reflects the expansive tendency of the American empire which is probably the single thing that will be its […]

Sunday inspiration: Why me?

Art by NC Wyeth Art by NC Wyeth

I have two good friends with cancer, so this question is coming up a lot these days. And recently I did a reading for someone who was taken ill with pneumonia and since then suffered a seemingly never ending series of health problems and pain.  I’ve had clients who have been in terrible car accidents that paralyzed them.  Horrific abuse as children. Being fired from a job at which they excelled.

These events may seem terrible on the surface, and it would be […]

Transits and Transformation: Turning Crisis into Healing

Art by Susan Seddon Boulet Art by Susan Seddon Boulet

As humans, we tend to think that happiness is better than sadness, that good luck is better than bad. We may avoid difficult confrontations and pursue more comfortable situations. When tragedy strikes our well-protected lives, we shout out to our god of choice: “How could you do this to me??” We believe that our birthright is the pursuit of happiness, and we spend our lives trying to protect ourselves from sorrow.

The soul, however, has a different journey. The soul travels […]

Happy Thanksgiving to you, and Blogiversary to me!

Astrological MusingsIt was Thanksgiving of 2005 when this blog began.  My sister, already a prolific blogger, helped me get Astrological Musings set up on Blogger, and the rest is history.  At the time there were just a handful of astrology blogs: Elsa, of course, and Robert, and Jeff’s blog at the time was “Astrology at the Movies.”   Things have changed – currently there are 187 members of our Astrology Bloggers Facebook group.

My second Saturn […]

Astrology in my world: More on the Saturn Return and adventures with Chiron

Susan Seddon Boulet Art by Susan Seddon Boulet

As I’ve been writing in this blog, I am in the middle of my second Saturn Return (also see this article if interested).  The Saturn Return is one of the major astrological life cycles in which we are brought face to face with the realities (Saturn) of our lives.  During the first Saturn Return at age 28-30 we have to face the fact that we are no longer freewheeling youths and we have to face up to the responsibilities […]

Astrology in my world: Pluto transit to Chiron

Pluto ChironEarly in my career as an astrologer, each day I carefully studied all of the bumps that the planets and luminaries (Sun and Moon) would make to my chart. After a lifetime of emotional disarray, it gave me tremendous comfort to see how when the Moon made a 90 degree angle to Saturn in my chart I felt depressed for a few hours. I could predict by watching the movement of Mars in relation to my chart when I would blow up at a friend or colleague. I was […]
