Pluto in Sagittarius

Friday repost: A look at Generation Z: The Pluto in Sagittarius generation

Pluto in Sagittarius generationPluto moves through a sign approximately every 20 years – its orbit is elliptical and there is a huge variation in the length of time Pluto spends in any sign – from 12 to 30 years!  Each sign that Pluto moves through marks a new generation with a new set of issues and priorities (other posts on generations can be found here).

Sometimes called “Generation Z” and described by social scientists as being born between 1995 and 2009 (Pluto was in […]

How the next recession will happen: An astrological view

Economists struggle to understand the ebb and flow of markets and attempt to find reasons why a market will expand and contract.  Astrologers have better tools.  They’re not perfect enough to depend on for day to day trading – there are too many variables.  One’s own planetary cycles, the peculiarities of each individual company, the global atmosphere and how each individual nation is affected by planetary cycles.  But what we can do is observe the larger planetary cycles to predict a general atmosphere of expansion and then contraction.

While […]

Was Jesus a family man?

Jesus and the Children

This article has been updated from an earlier post.  A few years ago Titanic director James Cameron produced a documentary connecting ossuaries found in a tomb in Talpiot Israel to the family of Jesus of Nazareth.  The eruption into mass consciousness of questions about the life of Jesus corresponded nicely with Pluto’s final travel through Sagittarius before entering Capricorn in 2008. Pluto creates chaos and upheaval in whatever sign it moves through, and one of the areas ruled over by Sagittarius is the […]

Millenials: The loneliest generation

A new article by Vox News reports that 30% of the age group commonly referred to as Millenials (described in this article as age 22-38, corresponding exactly to the period when Pluto was in Scorpio, is lonely.

22 percent of millennials in the poll said they had zero friends. Twenty-seven percent said they had “no close friends,” 30 percent said they have “no best friends,” and 25 percent said they have no acquaintances.

This 30% loneliness figure compares with 15% of the Baby Boomers born under Pluto in Leo, […]

What we need to learn from the death of Saoirse Kennedy Hill

One of the granddaughters of Robert F. Kennedy took her own life the other day at the age of 22 after a long battle with depression.  I wanted to write about this because Saoirse was of the Pluto in Sagittarius generation – the generation (born 1995-2008) that tends to be fixated on the perfection of the heavily curated Instagram life.  Sagittarius is associated with media, optimism, and a search for meaning that can sometimes disappear in the haze of today’s world of instant gratification and the superficial happiness of things.  A look […]

Social media, depression and Pluto in Sagittarius

Recent news articles have warned of a growing epidemic of depression, loneliness and isolation due to social media.  While social media ostensibly makes it easier to connect with others, online contacts do not have the same quality of connection as face to face communication.  In addition, we often forget that our online presence is carefully curated to show only the highlights of people’s lives and not the backstory, and our lives pale in comparison.  This is especially true of Instagram, where professional influencers use carefully crafted images to sell products based on […]

Musings on hate, violence and healing

In the early days after I started this blog in 2005 I found it interesting to profile people in the news.  Primarily this was for my own interest in order to explore the motivations of people who do weird things, but also to illustrate in real life the value of astrological understanding.  In attempting to understand the minds of criminals, I would often profile individuals who committed appalling acts of violence.  But over the past few years, the number of mass shootings has increased to such a degree that I can […]

The limits of positive thinking

positive thinkingWhile Pluto was in Sagittarius (1995-2008) optimism and positive thinking (Sagittarian traits) rose to an art form.  Pluto tends to bring a compulsive drive to any sign that it travels through, and while a certain degree of optimism and positivism is a good thing, the benefits of this kind of thinking end when other feelings are pushed into the underworld of the psyche.

Having worked a great deal to perfect my own positive thinking apparatus, I know very well how powerful changing your thought patterns can be.  When Pluto entered the more […]
