Planetary news this week: The end of the Saturn/Uranus square

Astrological update for the week of October 10-17, 2022

Saturn square Uranus: The final hurrah. We are in the final stages of the challenging square from Saturn (compression) to Uranus (rebellion) – the planetary cycle of 2021 which promoted so much civil unrest and overreaction. Although this is not an exact aspect (the two planets are 39 minutes of a degree apart and will begin to wane, we will likely continue to see the final stages of reactionary behavior well into November.

When two planets are in a square aspect to each […]

Astrological news this week: Autumn equinox brings a turning point, and a New Moon

Astrological update for the week of September 19-26, 2022

art by Hayley Roberts

September is one of those months when the Sun moves into a cardinal sign and marks the beginning of a new season. Here in the northern hemisphere we are moving into fall, and my friends Down Under are transitioning to Spring. Either way, there is a whiff of change in the air.

Fall Equinox September 22, 9:03 pm. This month the Equinox marks the point of equality between darkness and light as we move from the […]

Astrological news this week: Time to regroup and reassess under peak retrograde

Astrological update for the week of September 12-19, 2022

art by Jane Ray

Peak retrograde. With Mercury having just turned retrograde last week, there are currently seven planets in apparent retrograde motion. Repeating my comments from last week: When there is a preponderance of retrograde energy it can feel like we’re spinning our wheels, especially if those planets are triggering something in our chart. Mercury retrograde issues tend to be specifically about communication, but we also have Jupiter retrograde (examining missed opportunities), Saturn retrograde (revisiting our obligations), […]

Planetary news this week: Virgo season and the Venus influence

Astrological update for the week of August 22-29, 2022

Lilyas on Deviant Art

Virgo New Moon. This week we move into Virgo season with the Sun entering Virgo on Tuesday August 23rd EDT and the Virgo New Moon on Saturday the 27th. Virgo season shifts the energies from the fiery solar/Leo passions into the cooler sensations as we begin the transition to autumn and the days begin to wane in the northern hemisphere. Under the influence of Virgo we start paying more attention to the details of our […]

Astrological forecast for the week of September 6, 2021: Mostly sunny with a hint of regret

This week we have no major planetary aspects causing trouble, and the week begins with the energies of the Virgo New Moon (catch up here if you missed it) lingering for the first few days. New Moons bring that sense of a clean slate, and here we have a trine from Uranus which helps to break up old patterns and stuck energy to help us to formulate a plan under the Virgo influence.  The New Moon is exact on September 6th at 8:51 pm if you choose to […]

Astrological update for the week of August 30, 2021: Taking care of details in the midst of confusion

So many of you have asked for some kind of recording and let’s try it this week.  There is a recording of this update at the end of the post.  Let me know what you think in the comments.

This week we have a lack of the fire element in the planetary energies, and Mars, the fire planet, will oppose watery Neptune.  Fire signifies drive, purification, frustration, motivation – it’s active in nature and energizes the processing of our experiences.  Chiron is in Aries, but since Chiron represents the unhealed wound it activate […]

Astrological update! Week of August 31 – September 6, 2020 including Pisces Full Moon

This week is packed with astrological juju: we have a very juicy Pisces Full Moon which includes, among other goodies, a harmonious sextile to Uranus to wake us up out of a rut and heighten our intuition.  Two planets (Mercury and Venus) change signs, and Mars prepares to turn retrograde on September 9th.  Transcription is below the video for those who prefer to read, but as always the video includes graphics and charts to illustrate more fully these planetary movements.

Who is Alexandria Ocasio Cortez? The astrological profile

Embed from Getty Images

This was originally posted in January 2019 but has been updated to reflect the availability of her birth time.  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was recently elected to the US House of Representatives from the 14th District of New York – the youngest woman ever to be elected to Congress.  Not only that, she is in the middle of her first Saturn Return.

The Saturn Return happens to each of us every 28-30 years when Saturn, traveling through its orbit around the Sun, returns to the degree of the sign that it holds in our natal astrological chart.  Because Saturn represents the virtues […]

Planetary news this week and the Supreme Court

This week’s biggest news of course is the big Aries Full Moon that occurred on the 24th.  Not big as in Supermoon big, but big as in eight planets all linked together in a dance of high energy planetary juju.  The energy of Full Moons take about three days to culminate and then about three days to dissipate so we are still riding the waves of that explosion of energies.

In the US news, the disruption of the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court is a classic manifestation of the […]

Chart for the Autumnal Equinox

The Autumn Equinox occurs when the Sun reaches the zero degree point of Libra in the Tropical zodiac.  At this point the days and nights are of equal length, and this is the last sense of balance before the day yields to night and the darkness ascends in power.

The charts for the four cardinal points (equinox and solstices), when the Sun reaches the zero degree of the four cardinal signs (Libra, Capricorn, Aries and Cancer) are considered points of power and are often used to forecast weather and other events.

The Equinox occurred this year on September 22 […]
