Longtime readers will know that for every U.S. presidential election I like to profile the candidates. Predicting the winner of an election is a tricky business as there are many factors involved (you can read all about that and the failure of astrologers to predict presidential elections in this earlier article).

One of the factors I consider is the chart and personality of the candidate. I also look at how they connect to the U.S. chart, and how current planetary conditions will affect them. I’m not going to attempt any predictions until we’ve looked at all the […]

Astrological update for the week of November 15, 2021: An eclipse and an energetic crescendo!

artist unknown

Fasten your seatbelts, friends – this week we have a lunar eclipse in Taurus and an argument between the aggression of Mars, the warrior, and the radical influence of Uranus, the rebel.

The eclipse is a partial one and less powerful astrologically because the lunar nodes are in a different sign, an “out of sign” conjunction.  It’s the conjunction from the lunar nodes of fate, marking the gateways from past to future, that makes a lunation an eclipse and an out of sign conjunction is weaker and has less effect.  But […]

7.5.21 – Release of stuck energy with the Sun sextile Uranus

Over the past few days we’ve had a powerful compression of planets in fixed signs conflicting with each other.  Saturn square Uranus of course, the story of 2021, but Mars in Leo has been involved in that dance as well which has inflamed and activated any tension.  There is a force now for change – the release of the past for the sake of the new – under Uranus which is conflicting with Saturn’s tendency to hold things back and delay until the timing is right.  Over the weekend the Taurus Moon […]

Planetary news this week! Mars in Scorpio, Mercury direct, and more

There’s a lot to unpack this week, and some of these will need their own blog posts.  Here’s an overview to help you prepare for the week!

Mars enters Scorpio on November 19th, and for a few weeks (until January 3rd) Mars will be roaring in its own sign.  Mars actually rules two signs: Scorpio and Aries, both of which are fiery signs of passion and adventure.  Scorpio’s fire is in the realm of water – deep and intense emotions which take us into the very core of our being.  Expect these […]

This New Moon in Cancer, June 2014

Cancer New Moon 2014The New Moon in Cancer takes place at 4:08 am on June 27th – the beginning of a new lunar cycle that takes us into a journey of exploration into the ways in which we connect with the people around us.

The sign Cancer brings us in touch with our family roots, but “family” can be defined in many different ways.  Most narrowly, “family” is defined as a group of related individuals living in a household together.  But family is widely defined as “a group of people sharing a […]

Mars in Libra December 2013: What can we expect?

Mars in LibraYou will be reading lots of stuff in the astrological news about the dangers of Mars in Libra as it collides with the Uranus/Pluto square (see the sidebar for more information about this cycle).  I wrote a bit about this last week and felt after reading the comments that it’s probably a good idea to talk more about Mars moving into Libra in early December and what that will mean for the Uranus/Pluto cycle and the tension that many of us have been experiencing.

There’s no denying that Uranus/Pluto […]

The Astrology of Revolution in Honduras

Honduras is not a country that has been much in the news, but in June of this year president Manuel Zelaya, who had attempted to rewrite the constitution of that country to permit a president to serve two terms, was ousted by a military coup ordered by the Honduran Supreme Court.  Zelaya re-entered the country illegally last week and demanded reinstatement and the fall of the replacement government.  The government reacted by suspending civil liberties and instituting martial law in many places in the country just as Saturn opposed Uranus exactly.

My bible for national charts is Moon Moore’s Book of […]

Natasha Richardson has died

Natasha RIchardsonThe shocking death of actress Natasha Richardson after what appeared to be a minor head injury from a skiing accident has raised a lot of questions.  After refusing medical treatment twice, she flown first to a hospital in Montreal and then to a hospital in New York where she died of a blood clot compressing her brain.

There is a big debate among astrologers as to whether we can predict death using astrology, and if we can, whether we should.  We can look at Natasha Richardson’s chart and her transits and progressions […]
