Mars in Capricorn

Belated astrological update for January 26-30, 2022: Mercury rx into Capricorn and Venus turns direct

artist unknown

Sorry for the delay of this post – I was out of town and overestimated my ability to post while on vacation. Here are a few important things to know about the astrology of the week:

Venus turns direct in the wee hours of the morning (EST) on January 29th after its retrograde travel, which means it’s stationary in the skies right now. This Venus retrograde cycle has not been kind to the financial markets which are ruled by Venus, especially with the conjunction from Venus to Pluto, but hopefully that […]

Astrological update for the week of January 17 2022: Cancer Full Moon and Aquarius Season begins

This week we have Mercury retrograde, having just changed direction, so I hope you all are being careful with your communication and reading instructions carefully.  😃  Venus is retrograde also, and you may be thinking more about people from the past who you’ve lost touch with, or repairing broken relationships. We also have Uranus changing direction this week, turning direct after about six months of retrogradation, meaning all of that impetus for change and authenticity will begin to find a route of action.  Three planets retrograde is about average – we need that […]

Journeys with Mars and the Uranus/Pluto square

Art by Kathleen Farago Art by Kathleen Farago

I’m finishing up the Planetary Illuminations report, but I wanted to give you a heads up on this important cycle.

You can read in the sidebar about the square aspect between Uranus and Pluto that has been creating intensity, drama and change since the two planets first came together back in 2011 (their first meeting was just a degree from exactitude, but close enough to pack a punch).  The sixth exact square is in mid-December, but during November they will be moving […]

Top ten things to know about Mars in Capricorn!

Photo by Bacher Photography Photo by Bacher Photography

Mars often gets a bad rap because it represents the more sordid side of the personality: desires of all kinds, anger, rage.  Mars is named after the god of war, after all!  But Mars also represents inspiration, motivation, the ability to set good boundaries and defend ourselves.  Mars requires action and we generally only see its negative qualities when that action is stifled for some reason.  Mars isn’t necessarily destructive, nor does it necessarily inspire rage in the heart of humans.  But […]

Thoughts on the upcoming Mercury retrograde

Mercury retrogradeThis Mercury retrograde period may be more challenging than some, especially during the first week (beginning around now until the 18th of December when Mercury retrogrades back into Sagittarius.

Mercury is in Capricorn now, where it wants to organize things and achieve something important.  Capricorn is all about goals and success, and it is not well-suited to the retrograde periods of Mercury which require reflection and a more inward focus that stimulates the subtle mind rather than the mental realm.

Mercury turns retrograde at about 5 degrees Capricorn, tightly conjunct Pluto. […]

The astrology of Dr. Laura’s resignation

Dr Laura SchlessingerDr Laura Schlessinger is no stranger to controversy. She has called homosexuality a “biological error,” and compared gay parents to pedophiles.  While she has stated publicly her belief that marriage is a sacrament between a man and a woman, she had an affair with her first boss when she began in the radio business.

This week Dr. Laura announced that she would leave her radio program after repeatedly dropping the “N-bomb” eleven times in a discussion with a black caller to her show (transcript […]

From the advice column: Will I ever receive a proper diagnosis?

I have a particular interest in energy medicine and the underlying causes of illness as they appear in the birthchart. This is particularly true of mysterious symptoms that defy diagnosis. That said, I am not a medical professional and my comments are not to be considered a substitute for regular medical care. Still, I strongly believe that most illnesses originate in an energy imbalance and that correcting this imbalance can improve our health.

Q: Twenty years ago, I had an attack of shingles in my head.. leaving me with vertigo, deafness, no taste or smell on the left side of my […]

The astrology of Sharon Stone’s meltdown

As a woman of a certain age, I am a huge fan of women who remain sex symbols well past their 40s and into their 50s, and even beyond. I am also a big fan of women who appear strong and individualistic. This makes me very interested in Sharon Stone, and as an astrologer I had to wonder what the heck was up with her lately when I saw her sitting at a press conference with Shimon Peres, supposedly promoting peace in Israel, yet saying “People are …saying, ‘I […]
