How the next recession will happen: An astrological view

Economists struggle to understand the ebb and flow of markets and attempt to find reasons why a market will expand and contract.  Astrologers have better tools.  They’re not perfect enough to depend on for day to day trading – there are too many variables.  One’s own planetary cycles, the peculiarities of each individual company, the global atmosphere and how each individual nation is affected by planetary cycles.  But what we can do is observe the larger planetary cycles to predict a general atmosphere of expansion and then contraction.

While […]

Jupiter square Neptune: The final bow under the Pisces Full Moon

Deviant Art

One of the more significant planetary cycles of 2019 is a powerful square (90 degree) dynamic between Jupiter and Neptune.  Jupiter and Neptune are connected through their mutual rulership of the sign Pisces:  Jupiter is the traditional ruler and Neptune the modern ruler of Pisces. Jupiter and Neptune share an expansive view of the world, and a desire to bring true meaning into our lives.  However, Jupiter’s focus is more on the expansion of the Self through a pursuit of meaning and Truth whereas Neptune’s […]

Endings at the Full Moon in the Critical Degree of Libra

Libra Full Moon April 19 Photo from Flickr

The Full Moon on the 19th is at the very last degree of Libra. The 29th degree is also called the “critical” or “anaretic” degree – it is a degree of completion and marks the end of one cycle and the evolution into another.  There is a poignancy to this degree, and it is often associated with the idea of chickens coming home to roost – it’s too late to control the outcome, but the facts must be faced.

The 29th degree, […]

The astrology of the 2018 US stock market rollercoaster

If you’ve been reading this blog, you’ll remember that the financial collapse of 2008 coincided with the entry of Pluto, planet of destruction and regeneration, into the contracting sign of Capricorn after spending 13 expansive years in optimistic Sagittarius.

At the end of December 2017, Saturn (tests, challenges and the reality principle) moved into its own sign of Capricorn which tends to make people somewhat cautious and risk-averse.  The first big dip of the year took place between February 1st and 5th under a challenging aspect from Venus to Jupiter.  Venus and Jupiter […]

Jupiter in Sagittarius: Prepare for adventure! November 2018 – December 2019

Jupiter in SagittariusJupiter left intense Scorpio for sunny Sagittarius on November 8, 2018, a planetary shift heralded around the world with the superlatives you would associate with a planet as big as Jupiter entering a sign as happy as Sagittarius.  Astrological headlines declare “Outgoing, lucky and limitless”; “the upgrade your life needs”; “Getting to Yes”; “taking you on a beautiful adventure.”   Everyone loves Jupiter, the planet of good fortune, luck and abundance.

Looking back to 2007

Because Jupiter rules Sagittarius its power to expand and open up new possibilities can operate unimpeded by other […]

Jupiter in Sagittarius and the Fear and Greed Index

There was a story on NPR this morning about the Fear and Greed Index:

When the index is low, fear is the dominant emotion. Investors tread warily. But when it’s high, greed is in the driving seat and no one seems to believe that prices can fall.

The index, says the investment bank, has just hit an all-time high and that means a full-scale slump in riskier assets could be in the offing.

Last year’s square of Saturn and Jupiter caused many of us to predict a downturn in the markets, but the expansion of Jupiter traveling through Scorpio (dealing […]

Jupiter in Sag: Inflation fears surface

When the planet of expansion travels through its own sign, we can expect expansion of all kinds. Political, economic, and expansion of the physical body as well since Jupiter can bring self-indulgence and complacency.

The Labor Department yesterday announced that employers boosted hiring and raised earnings a half percent in December. Economic sectors with employment gains included architectural and engineering outfits, hospitals and doctors’ offices, banks, computer design firms, bars and restaurants, hotels and motels, and schools. This suggests expansion in planning for building, if not building, which may suggest the higher aspirations […]

Jupiter in Sagittarius and other planetary news

Mars left Scorpio for Sagittarius yesterday, and with Mercury and Jupiter moves into position to form a sextile, a harmonious aspect, to Chiron that has the potential to open up new possibilities (Jupiter) for healing (Chiron). Mercury provides the ideas and Mars the energy to accomplish this.

Five planets are now in Sagittarius and tomorrow Mercury will enter Sagittarius making a whopping six planets in this sign of ideals, philosophy, religion, adventure. John and Susan Townley write in their excellent article on Jupiter in Sagittarius:

You would expect anything passing through a mutable sign […]
