Happy Resurrection Holiday

dying resurrected godThis is a repost from 2010.  You might also enjoy my podcast The Resurrection Show.

I have always found it interesting that the timing Christian holiday of Easter is based on the lunar cycle and the Spring Equinox.  The holiday that the Christian world celebrates as Easter retains much of its pagan roots as a fertility festival and a time of balance as the days and nights (in the northern hemispheres) are of equal length. Even the name “Easter” is taken from the Saxon fertility goddess Ostara […]

For the retrograde: The renegade Venus

The image of Venus has really changed over the years, morphing from her early days as a complex warrior queen and sexual goddess to a more two-dimensional character, the Goddess of Love and Beauty.

While Venus is retrograde I thought it would be a good time to look at the OTHER side of Venus.  The archetype that we now call Venus/Aphrodite was a female goddess that originally presided over sexuality, fertility, and war in ancient Bronze Age Mesopotamian civilization.  She was called Astarte in Greece, Ashtoreth in Hebrew, Inanna in Sumeria, Isis […]

Astrotheology: The Sun of God

astrotheology christmas
The fact that our Judeo-Christian mythos is a derivation of earlier religions and legends has moved into the mainstream, and the idea that the divinity of Jesus has parallels with other gods is no longer a shocking idea.  Most of us realize now that Jesus wasn’t born on Christmas day – shepherds don’t watch their flocks in December, even in ancient Judea – and that the Christmas holiday was adopted because it was already being celebrated as the Winter Solstice in the pagan world.

The Winter Solstice is celebrated as the […]

Jupiterian truths and the Age of Pisces

As we transition into the Aquarian Age, we are leaving the traits of Pisces behind.  We usually think of Pisces as being Neptune-ruled since Neptune is the modern ruler of Pisces and explains the dreamy and imaginative nature of Pisces.  Neptune is  associated with magic and spirituality, but also with delusion and the negation of the Self - all characteristics of the 2000 year domination of the world by Christianity.

Bikram Choudhury, the Hot Yoga guru, is in Hot Water

Bikram Choudhury astrologyBikram Choudhury is no stranger to controversy.  Founder of Bikram Yoga, the 26-posture sequence that is performed in an environment of at least 105 degrees, Choudhury has been involved in several copyright infringement lawsuits and sexual harassment complaints.  In a discipline that for thousands of years has embraced the wide sharing of knowledge, Choudhury’s attempt to claim ownership over yoga poses has been controversial even in the world of American yoga which is admittedly more material in nature than in its native India.  Choudhury […]

Grand Sextile/Star of David, July 29 2013

Grand Sextile 2013Image stolen from Conscious Cool Chic

I have been writing about the Grand Trine in Water that is in effect for much of this year, and at the end of the month a Grand Trine in Earth will intersect with the Water Trine and form a Star of David, or Grand Trine.

Similarity to Harmonic Concordance

The Harmonic Concordance that occurred on November 8, 2003 was considered a portal to awakened consciousness.  The Harmonic Concordance featured the same […]

Happy Eostre!

reprinted from 2006.  Artwork by Paulina Stuckey-Cassidy

Many people will celebrate Easter Sunday as the day that Christ rose from his grave and achieved godhood. In ancient mythology, the archetype of the dying and rising god actually began thousands of years before Jesus with the stories of Osiris and Tammuz, Adonis and Attis — all legends of gods that suffered an untimely end but were reborn into physical existence in order to spread their religion. Festivals celebrating the death of the god in winter when the crops were dying and the resurrection in spring were common.

Long before the […]

Will religion survive the Aquarian Age?

KopimismIn Sweden a new religion called “kopimism” is dedicated to the right to share files freely across the internet.  This religion has been officially recognized by the Swedish government as a lawful religion. Its sacred symbols are ctrl-c and ctrl-v (the PC keyboard shortcuts for copy and paste).  This is not a joke.

For the past 2150 years or so we have been in the Age of Pisces (see my earlier article for the delineations between the Great Ages and a discussion of when the Aquarian Age begins.) […]

When does the Mayan calendar really end?

(click image to enlarge) The Mayan calendar is usually said to end on December 21, 2012, but that date seems to have little relevance to the actual Mayan calendar, although it has come to bear great mythological significance for the current age.  According to that great source of modern wisdom Wikipedia:

In 1975, the ending of b’ak’tun 13 became the subject of speculation by several New Age authors, who asserted it would correspond with a global “transformation of consciousness”. In Mexico Mystique: The Coming Sixth Age of […]

May 21st is a bad day for the Rapture

The Rapture May 21 2011WARNING:  tongue-in-cheek sarcasm ahead!

As you may know, the Rapture is scheduled for 6 pm tonight with a bang and a big earthquake, according to Harold Camping, leader of Family Radio Worldwide.

“Because the year 2011 AD is exactly 7,000 years after 4990 BC when the flood began, the Bible has given us absolute proof that the year 2011 is the end of the world during the Day of Judgment,” the website of Family Radio says.

“Amazingly, May 21, 2011 is the 17th day of the second month of […]
