Aries Full Moon

The final Blood Moon occurs this week – end of the world?

peanuts(hint:  probably not!!)

As I wrote last week, the upcoming Full Moon this weekend is not only a SuperMoon (occurring when the Moon is at its closest point to Earth and therefore wields a more powerful influence) but also a Blood Moon eclipse (so called because of the red color that infuses the Moon during the eclipse.  It is also the final event of a Lunar Tetrad – a group of four total eclipses that occur within a six month period (read this earlier article for all the details).

(Geeky […]

Blood Moon, Full Moon, Eclipse! April 4, 2015

blood moon eclipse 2015This eclipse is being called the “shortest lunar eclipse in a century,” but it is quite powerful astrologically since it triggers both Uranus (radical behavior) and Pluto (destruction and regeneration) in a very tight aspect from both the Sun and Moon.  The Sun aligns with Uranus, fostering rebellion and a desire to separate from anything which holds us back, and Uranus opposes the Moon which creates a restless need for something to change.

(This eclipse falls on Passover and is called a Blood Moon which as a lunar tetrad […]

Aries Full Moon Eclipse: October 2013

eclipseThe Moon is full in Aries tonight at 7:37 pm Eastern, meaning the Moon will be opposite the Libra Sun.  The opposition of the Moon to the Sun indicates a tension between emotion (Moon) and reason (Sun), between conscious thought (Sun and instinctive drives (Moon). The word “tension” is defined as “the state of being stretched tight.”  In the Full Moon (or any other planetary opposition as well) we are being stretched to our outer limits to use all of our resources and gifts as nature intended.  Full Moons can be […]

Full Moon in Aries: October 11, 2011

The Aries Full Moon occurs on the evening of October 11th. As in any Full Moon, the Aries Moon opposes the Libra Sun, bringing the Aries/Libra polarity into the forefront of our awareness.

The Aries/Libra dynamic balances the need for self-orientation (Aries) with a focus on  The Other (Libra). Libra itself  seeks to achieve balance, and in that quest there is often a loss of the desired balance  as the quest for harmony, especially in relationships, takes precedence over personal needs. Aries maintains the focus on personal needs and is less interested in achieving balance.

On the other hand (a good Libra […]

Full Moon in Aries: October 22, 2010

Art by Steven Miller

The Full Moon on Friday, October 22nd, is at the very last degree of Aries.  Aries is the sign of initiation and courage; the sign that inspires us to forge ahead despite our fears and anxieties and make things happen.  The 29th degree is a symbol of completion, and the Full Moon is the symbol of fulfillment and readiness for gestation.  There is a sense here of a readiness for personal growth and evolution that can come to fruition if […]

Full Moon in Aries, September 23 2010

Aries Full Moon September 2010The Full Moon occurs on September 23rd at 5:17 am Eastern time in the sign of Aries, balancing the Sun which has just entered Libra.  Full Moons occur when the Moon is in opposition to the Sun, and oppositions require that we learn to balance opposite forces. The Aries/Libra polarity is itself concerned with finding balance and harmony (Libra) while staying firmly rooted in our own individuality (Aries).  Me and you, this and that, here and there – all are differences that need to be […]

The Autumn Equinox and the Harvest Moon

sadly I do not know to whom this artwork should be attributed!! The Autumn Equinox takes place on Wednesday when the Sun enters Libra, followed the next day by the Full Moon in Aries which is often called the Harvest Moon.  Thanks to John and Susan Townley for finding this interesting article on the subject from the Wall Street Journal of all places.

Astrologer Nick Campion is quoted in the article as a “historian of cultural astronomy at the Universe of Wales.”  Astrology isn’t mentioned, even though […]

Aries Full Moon tomorrow!

Over the past week Mercury has been harmonizing with both Pluto and Mars, facilitating resolution of the anger and breakdowns that erupted with the Sun/Pluto/Mars T-square a week ago. Mercury is the messenger and its presence now in the release of the T-square energy makes it easier to process the information that came out of these critical events. This heightened understanding paves the way for the Full Moon in Aries on the 26th.

The Aries Full Moon opposes the Libra Sun and strives for harmony and balance between individuality (Aries) and the need to compromise (Libra), something which will be easier […]
