Inspiration for today’s Venus/Neptune square

Venus is one of the personal planets, governing the aspect of our personality that values connection with others, our aesthetic tastes, and the things we value.  Neptune is a transformational planet – one of the outer planets that are invisible to the naked eye but nevertheless exert a strong influence on our human lives.  It is often said  that Neptune is the “higher octave” of Venus – where Venus relates to human love and the human experience, Neptune’s role is to assist with the process of transcending beyond the […]

Road to 2024: The astrology of Nikki Haley

Longtime readers will know that for every U.S. presidential election I like to profile the candidates. Predicting the winner of an election is a tricky business as there are many factors involved (you can read all about that and the failure of astrologers to predict presidential elections in this earlier article).

One of the factors I consider is the chart and personality of the candidate. I also look at how they connect to the U.S. chart, and how current planetary conditions will affect them. I’m not going to attempt any predictions until we’ve looked at all the […]

Planetary news this week: Preparing for the April 20 solar eclipse

Astrological update for the week of April 10-17, 2023

Deviant Art

The solar eclipse on April 20 will kick off eclipse season. Eclipses are often bunched into a series of two or three pairs, but this year the two eclipse pairs operate on their own, without any others in the series. The first of the pair, the New Moon, occurs at 29º 57′ Aries – just three minutes of a degree from being in Taurus rather than Aries. This degree can feel a little “cusp-y” but to me there […]

7.28.21 – Jupiter back in Aquarius, and a burst of energy Mars at 29 degrees

artist unknown

I wrote about Jupiter retrograding back into Aquarius a few days ago and you can catch up here if you missed it. When Jupiter is retrograde (as we observe its motion from Earth) we tend to look backwards at lost opportunities, or else we are forced to retrace our steps in order to achieve the expansion which Jupiter always urges. We’re certainly seeing this in the world today as the expansion of the Delta variant begins to see a backsliding of the opening up of the world […]

1.5.21. Mars at the 29th degree of Aries

art by Dolores Develde
Mars has been in Aries since June 27th 2020 – a crazy long time for Mars to be in one sign, and in its own sign of Aries, where its aggressive force is unhampered by any control factors, we have seen some intensification of violence and hostility.  Mars enters Taurus tomorrow, Wednesday January 6 2021, but not until 5:21 pm on the day that Congress meets to certify the election.  The 29th degree is called a “critical” degree. The last degree of a sign, it’s the last […]

Harvey Weinstein – the astrology of sex and power

Flickr

How appropriate that Harvey Weinstein, arguably the most powerful mogul in Hollywood today and perhaps in Hollywood history, was terminated from his leadership position at the Weinstein Company just as Jupiter (leadership) goes into Scorpio (sex and power).

Weinstein is notorious among Hollywood circles for his boorish behavior and sexual harassment allegations that span over decades.  Over the past few days actresses who declined his advances have come forward to tell their Weinstein stories, and presumably there are many more who did not fight in order to save their […]

Report on the Full Moon Summer Solstice

full moon summer solstice Photo from Space.com

While the Summer Solstice is usually celebrated on June 21st, the astrological Solstice occurs when the Sun enters Cancer, and that occurred this year on June 20th.  This Summer Solstice coincided with the Full Moon, something we hadn’t seen apparently since 1948 (according to news reports).

The Sun is strongest in a sign when it first enters that sign, and when the Sun enters one of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) it is even stronger.  The cardinal signs initiate a new season – […]

The question of cusps and the 29th degree

sign cuspsIn response to a few questions I had from readers after other astrologers wrote about the New Moon being in Pisces, I thought it would be useful to discuss the idea of the “cusp.”  This is one of those concepts about which you can read a myriad of different opinions from very reputable astrologers.

The cusp idea comes mainly from the popular world of “sun sign astrology.”  Since the Sun doesn’t move from one sign to another on the same day every year in order to give readers an idea of which sign […]

The Astrology of Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge

Prince William and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, welcomed their baby boy into the world on July 22nd at 4:24 pm BST.  Will and Kate have been a fresh air for the British monarchy which has been plagued by scandal and crisis for an entire generation.

The baby, who does not yet have a name, was born while the Sun was still in Cancer (at 29 degrees, 58 minutes).  You can’t get much closer to a Leo Sun without being there, and the symbology of the last degree is an […]

More on the chart of James Eagan Holmes, the Aurora gunman

Photo from ABC News site

Last week I posted a profile of James Holmes, the gunman in the Aurora Colorado movie theater shooting. However, a birth certificate has been located and we now have a time for  Holmes that provides a more accurate chart.  The chart is posted on Astro.com but for some reason they do not use Chiron in these charts and Chiron plays an extremely significant role in the chart as it forms a Grand Cross (see my other article for more details).

With an exact birth time we can see the […]
