Eclipses can be somewhat revelatory – they sometimes act to bring something out into the open which has been concealed. The lunar eclipse on Monday March 25 is a partial eclipse because it is 10 degrees from the lunar nodes of fate, but we will still notice the eclipse effects of magnification and revelation.
The fact that the Aries Sun eclipses the Libra Moon at the time of the equinox, with the Sun newly in Aries, amplifies the focus on the Will. Aries, ruled by Mars, can be seen as pure “id” – the unconscious drive of the personality towards satisfaction. But the Libra Moon teaches that all things require compromise. Libra itself is associated with the need to find balance and integration, and that can be more difficult when we are dealing with extremes.
How can we maintain our equilibrium (Libra) while speaking up for ourselves (Aries)? How can we enjoy the thrill and fire of adventure (Aries) when we are sensitive to the needs of others? These are issues that often come up at the Libra Full Moon, but when an eclipse is involved the drama may become more intense. This is especially true because the ruler of the Aries Sun, Mars, is in the watery sign of Pisces where our resolve can become weak and flabby. When Mars is in Pisces we may start out with clarity of intention, but run out of steam if we hit a road block.
Fortunately the Sun and Moon are well aspected by Pluto to help us to power through challenges and come out on the other side, intentions intact. The Moon in this eclipse is near the south node of the past, and the Aries Sun and North Node dominate the astrological landscape. This eclipse is pushing us forward into the future, not dwelling in the past, but the Moon at the south node could bring up our old subconscious patterns.
Fortunately, on Sunday the two benefics line up to shower us with good vibes in preparation for Monday’s eclipse. This is a bounty of good vibes and self-confidence that will carry us with grace and an open heart into the eclipse. Remember that during an eclipse not everything is as it appears, and the truth may be briefly obscured. This is a time to view the world through the inner eye, and see what magic is revealed.
Thank you for sharing your insights into this lunar eclipse. It feels like a portal for new insights and intuitions regarding ways of relating to the self and others.
