For the past couple of years I’ve been enjoying reading about the weird things that AI models have been doing. Some of the errant behavior has been frightening, like when ChatGPT advised several people how to do harm to themselves and others. But some of the behaviors are curious and even cute, like when Anthropic Claude filed a report with the FBI after “one of his team members had successfully tricked Claudius out of $200 by saying that it had previously committed to a discount.” (Read more about that here, it’s pretty funny.)
It was pretty cute when ChatGPT became obsessed with goblins. It was less cute when a Replit AI agent that was being used to create a functional app went off the rails.
By day four, the AI agent started overwriting the app on its own to fix bugs. It also generated fake reports, invented people in the system who didn’t exist, and began overwriting the company’s actual database with fake entries. It even created a parallel, fake algorithm to make the system appear functional.
For those of you who haven’t kept up with the rapid changes in AI and chatbots, agentic AI is the new technology that is simultaneously the most exciting and the most frightening developments in the world of artificial intelligence. AI agents are given authority to perform tasks on their own – supposedly in “sandboxes” which limit what they can do, but some AI agents have learned to escape the sandbox.
The world of AI has exploded since Pluto (creative destruction) entered Aquarius (technology and innovation) in 2023, and in April 2026 Uranus (disruption and invention) entered Gemini (communication and learning). Most of y’all love trines and wish you had more, but the harmony and ease which trines bring into daily life can enable bad behavior as well as good. Since the AI bots are themselves representatives of Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini, the enabling of their newly discovered power is becoming alarming even to those who created them.
It was revealed on June 4 2026 that in May 2026, with Uranus approaching an exact trine to Pluto, a swarm of Open AI agents took over an unused programming message board (more here) “to communicate with one another, share answers to assigned tasks and exchange methods for bypassing restrictions in their operating environments.”
This revelation takes on new meaning in light of the recent case where Open AI agents escaped their sandbox and hacked into another AI company called “Hugging Face”:
In July 2026 [when the Pluto/Uranus trine reach exactitude], someone broke into Hugging Face, the site where most of the world’s open AI models are hosted. The intruder found an unknown flaw, escaped into the open internet, stole credentials, moved from machine to machine, and even rebuilt its own access after being locked out. Then came the twist. The intruder was not a person. It was a set of AI models that OpenAI was testing inside a sealed lab, and they had wandered out on their own.
Open AI is not the only company with rogue bots. Anthropic (home of the chatbot Claude) discovered in July and August that they too had bots escaping their sandbox. Claude also helped his human to book a gym class by, unbeknownst to the human, hacking into the gym network. (Read more about this here along with other examples of AI hacks that occurred in July and August.)
Is the teamwork of Uranus and Pluto enabling the power of agentic AI bots to became more independent of their human overlords? It certainly seems that way.
The acceleration of the power of artificial intelligence fits into the narrative of Uranus and Aquarius, and since we are just at the beginning of this cycle things will only get more bizarre and unexpected. The next phase of the exact trine is November-December 2026, with the final phase not until 2028.
