Mercury is still retrograde for another few days or so, and there are signs of it everywhere. Mercury rules transportation as well as communication, and when retrograde there are often snafus and the need to repair our equipment and revise our plans
I’m sure my readers have stories of their own to tell: disappearing emails, dropped phone calls, malfunctioning equipment, miscommunications. There are plenty of stories in the news as well that relate to the retrograde Mercury cycle (italicized words are Mercury keywords)
- Passengers are stranded in airports all over the world from Boston to London to Moscow as winter storms bring air travel to a screeching halt.
- Miscommunications between airline pilots and air traffic controllers resulted in passengers on Cathay Pacific and British Airways planes being stuck on the tarmac without an available gate for many hours.
- The Chinese government delivered a counterattack to Pope Benedict’s criticism of Chinese religious freedoms in his Christmas message. It seems to me this is an area in which the Pope doesn’t have much room to criticize.
- Time Warner Cable makes another grab for more programming money by rejecting a settlement offer with Sinclair Broadcasting which means Sinclair channels, including network and Fox affiliates, will go dark when the contract expires.
- Consumer confidence retreated in December, with consumers expecting that there will be fewer jobs in 2011.
- A malfunction of a ski lift in Maine injured nine people.
What’s going on in your world?

This has been a doozy! I am hearing that things probably aren’t going to clear up significantly until after the Jan. 4 eclipse. Do you agree?
Meantime, here’s another one for you, just in this afternoon:
Train across France completes ‘hell on wheels’ journey.
A night train on France’s famed SNCF rail network arrived 13 hours late after a series of unfortunate events delayed its journey across the country.
The fate of the 4295 train and its 600 passengers, travelling from Strasbourg in the north-east to the Spanish border at Portbou, made national headlines.
Bad weather, a late driver, a bad engine, a blockage on the line and disruptive drunks all played a part….

I went to walk the dog, pulled the door shut and locked myself out of the house. Had to call the significant other to come home early and let me in. Also spent a day out running errands that got colder instead of warmer and just about froze. Had two ‘the dog is driving me crazy’ incidents.
The beginning of the retrograde period was the toughest for me. Daily something was going wrong and yet again, as with every Mercury retrograde, I locked my keys in the truck. Each time there was a relatively easy solution and I got my truck unlocked. This time, my partner had re-upped our AAA membership for a trip we were taking. Didn’t need it on the trip, but sure used it to get my truck unlocked. So this time, I put a spare on my work keys that I wear around my neck. We’ll see if that takes care of the problem.
My mishaps occurred the second day of the retrograde. I posted something that had happened in my office on one of my social networking sites. My boss got wind of it and called me. I was terrified about going to work the following Monday because of it. Who else at work had seen it? Would I be reprimanded? Recently I have read about people having been fired for posting things about their work on their social networking sites. But, there by the grace of God, nothing more was said about it. On the third day, I sent an email in response to someone thinking it was a new email they sent but it wasn’t and I had to go back and apologize. Uggh… Those are the only things so far.
In the interests of adding to Mercury Rx empirical data, I tested it by ordering a couple of books from two different sellers on Amazon and they arrived on time & as ordered. During a period when Mercury was direct, I had ordered 6 books, five of which came promptly and one I had to contact the seller to reorder (5-6 wks in coming).
Now my husband & I had what could be a classic Mercury Rx experience in buying a new TV. The first one we ordered was close to two weeks in coming & turned out to have been damaged in transit. I reordered another model and hope to have it delivered shortly after Mercury stations direct.
What I’m beginning to wonder is if there is a correlation between numbers of people (like all those who elected to disregard the weather & travel recently) and the greater the chance of running into Mercury related issues.
My natal Mercury is in the twelfth house, inconjunct to Uranus, so maybe my personal Mercury Rx experience is similar to those with a natal Mercury Rx. Fewer Mercury problems during Rx and more when it is direct. Just a thought . . . :)
xo diane~
Holy smokes has this merc rx kicked my ass, but in a good way. I was totally forced to handle some tough “issues” from my past, that came forth into light for major healing and surrender. I am also using the time to clear out my house of all that is not needed moving into the new year. It has been a very emotional time of going back to feel some things that needed to be felt. etc!
I agree with all of you! It seems the more you ask of yourself with regards to healing and forgiveness, the greater the challenges in these times of retrograde. This morning 5 of my planned events were interrupted, I had a flat tire, and my hubby and I seemed to be speaking a foreign language that the other cannot understand. Deep breathing helps, but locking myself in my office and journaling is the best medicine!
I tend to be impulsive, and when I want to do something when Mercury is Rx I do it anyway. I may run into the expected problems and delays, but they tend not to frustrate me because I understand the dynamic of the energy and eventually everything works out. The alternative is waiting for the retrograde period to end, and waiting is just not my strong suit! Sun square Uranus, I have to do it NOW. :)
