This is a detailed overview of the planetary cycles over the past 15 years in case it is of interest to readers. It’s a companion post to my 2024 forecast which you’ll find here.

  • 2008: Pluto leaves over-optimistic Sagittarius for the reality check sign of Capricorn, leading to a mortgage crisis, housing crisis, and general economic downturn. As the slowest moving planet, Pluto through the signs takes us through the depth of the experience that each sign has to offer.
  • 2010: Uranus enters Aries and a series of rebellions and revolutions ensue (Arab Spring,Occupy Wall Street etc.)
  • 2012: Saturn (limitations) squared Pluto in Capricorn corresponding with the Eurozone debt crisis and the so-called “Fiscal Cliff” in the U.S., as well as fears about the end of the world.
  •  2013-2020: Uranus (revolution) squares Pluto (destruction)¹ coincided with many important events:
    • Pope Benedict became the first pope to resign in 600 years;
    • Edward Snowden’s NSA leaks;
    • Russian annexation of Crimea, beginning the chain of events leading up to the current war in Ukraine;
    • Brexit;
    • The election of Donald Trump to the U.S. Presidency
  • 2020: The conjunction of Saturn to Pluto, an aspect typically associated with hardship was followed by the longest period of the most retrograde planets.
    • The Covid19 pandemic and associated lockdowns, disease and death created a tremendous amount of fear, the type we typically see when Saturn and Pluto interact.
    • Black Lives Matter sprang up after the murder of George Floyd and other innocent black people.
  • 2021: Jupiter and Saturn conjoined in Aquarius, marking the beginning of the Age of Air.² This is a 200 year shift from one element (in this case Earth) to the next (Air) that corresponds to a change in human life and experience.
  • 2022: The square from Saturn to Uranus marking a period of disruption and civil unrest.
  • 2023: Saturn entered Pisces, Pluto entered Aquarius – two major shifts of energies from planets changing signs. ³

  2. If you have a few minutes, I suggest that you watch this video I did a couple of years ago about the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in the air sign of Aquarius. Conjunctions of Jupiter and Saturn occur every 20 years – they align in the same element for about 200 years and after cycling through all four elements they repeat again making an 800 year cycle through the elements. (Here is a handy table provided by astrologer Richard Nolle if you want to investigate further.) We just emerged from a 200 year period of Earth (beginning in 1800-1840 ) into a new age of Air, and this is occurring about the same time as we are making the shift from the Piscean Age into Aquarius.   3. Saturn had been in Aquarius for 2-1/2 years, Pluto had been in Capricorn for 15 years.
