Jupiter – the King of the Gods, the largest planet in our solar system. Everything about it is bigger than life. In our natal astrological charts, Jupiter shows where we find meaning in life, the kind of belief systems we formulate, and the pathways that will give us the abundance and opportunities to keep expanding. Known traditionally as the “greater benefic,” Jupiter’s influence is generally favorable and offers us confidence and optimism and a desire for growth and expansion.
(Astrology geeks: details of planetary movements can be found at the bottom of the page) Jupiter also represents the search for truth – our own personal truth. The truth that makes sense to us, our theology, and when we find others that share that truth, our religion. Our philosophy of life. In the process of finding this truth we seek to expand the limits of our knowledge through higher education, discovery of other cultures and foreign countries, and the higher knowledge that expands our inner consciousness.
The astrological sign of Scorpio represents Truth with a capital “T” – the Truth that is gritty and real and supersedes our own ideas of what is true. Jupiter stays in a sign for about a year and has been in the sign of Libra since the fall of 2016 where it expanded cultural ideas of beauty and relationships. Jupiter will enter the deep water sign of Scorpio on October 10th 2017 and will remain there through November 8th 2018.
Scorpio is also associated with sexuality, emotional intensity, passions of all kinds, as well as the energetic undercurrents that reveal the secrets behind the areas of our lives that we usually keep hidden. Brutal honesty and direct confrontation are highlighted when dealing with the Scorpio influence – anything superficial or artificial is quickly penetrated with the Scorpionic laser eye for the Truth.
While Jupiter passes through Scorpio, our attention will be drawn into the mysteries of the unknown, the realm of Scorpio, as Jupiter inspires us to expand our knowledge (Jupiter) of the secrets that lead us towards the ultimate Truth. Psychological discoveries, occult secrets, ancient mysteries and lost civilizations, issues of sex and death – all of these things will emerge into the light of day to encourage greater understanding.
While Jupiter is in Scorpio it will harmonize with its natural ally Neptune, facilitating the flow of consciousness expansion and increased awareness, and with Pluto, Scorpio’s modern ruler. Pluto helps to guide us into the Underworld where the great treasures can be found – not only the treasures of the psyche and the magic of the great philosophical mysteries, but also the very keys to unlocking the mystery of Self Knowledge. These influences will be especially strong in April-May 2018 and August-September 2018.
How to get the most out of the passage of Jupiter through Scorpio:
- The gates to the underworld of the psyche are easier to access when Jupiter moves through Scorpio, making this the perfect time for psychotherapy or deep soul work.
- Superficial relationships will be challenged and may fall away under this influence which requires nothing less than Truth in all things.
- Recording your dreams and inner thoughts in a journal or some other form of record will help you to access the deep subconscious to facilitate greater awareness.
- As your inner power is activated you will become aware of fears and anxieties that will need to be healed before you are able to fully emerge in your own Truth.
Geeky astrological details: Jupiter will trine Neptune on December 2, 2017, May 25, 2018 and August 8, 2018 and will sextile Pluto on January 1, 2018, April 2018 and September 2018. Thanks to Martin Bulgerin for his helpful Big Aspects site.
Lynn,
Are you saying that we all are about to go deeper? I am not sure I am ready for this!! I feel like the scales have been falling from my eyes a lot in the last few years and it seems to require a strong spine and stomach to deal with all of it, especially regarding our government (my opinion). I am also I think I am experiencing my Chiron return (turned 51 in Aug) so it has been a crucible indeed!! So there is more coming? Striving to be ‘awake’ as they say is super painful sometimes!
Hi Gina,
I too have gone through great changes over the past few years. The beauty of growth is, once we move into the next level we never go back down, although, at times it feels really difficult, we have new tools and abilities to continue to improve.
I read something a few weeks ago. “Focus on the improvements rather than the process.”
It’s just like de-cluttering. We pull everything out, making a huge mess, then we go through it all and toss some things, donate others, and reorganizes what is left. If I focus on the process (the mess), I miss the Beauty of what was gained.
Gina, it’s always a choice. “The planets impel, they do not compel.” But while staying awake can be painful, the alternative is deadly! The process of transformation is easier and more fluid when we allow ourselves to relax into it. In these times we also need to find ways to avoid becoming embroiled in the disasters of the news. Change the things we can and surrender what we cannot. ❤️
Thanks Lynn and Dr. Deb. By choice I am not on social media, I have a natural aversion to it (I think it is because in my natal chart I have Uranus in the 12th?). Anyway, I do like to read blogs of choice that are positive and educational and watch you Tube videos so I guess it is my way of controlling the influx of the insanity the darker side of the world tries to throw at us at times. I am also not controlled by a smart phone by choice. I guess I am an old school old farty type. Prayer helps more than anything which helps to ground me but it is a habit I must learn to practice regularly as a discipline. I am very sensitive to energies so the older I get the need for quiet becomes greater. Thanks again!
WOW!!
I have no cell, have reduced drama kings/queens exposure, and avoid social media. As I get older also, I have found more news and drama are coming at us faster. My relief comes from gardening and watching Leave it to Beaver and Andy Griffith. I too am more sensitive to the energies, I guess that comes from being more spiritual / connected, and we’ve lived through so much and understand “this too will pass.” A broken fingernail is not the end of the world. hehehe
One thing I have found that slows the change, is to stop reading or watching things that encourage spiritual growth. So when you feel you need a break, just read or watch things that relax you, rather than make you think. My weekends are for this, Instead of turning on my computer, I read gardening magazines, cook/bake, and watch old shows. Another thing, is to keep a journal of all the “great” things that come into my life.
Yesterday, there was a big rush of PEACE.
EXCITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It really sound like there will be personal and global awakenings, as each person delves into themselves, pulling off the masks and expands their inner consciousness.
Over the past 4 – 5 years, the world has become massively divided and preoccupied with myopic daydreams, worries, and the techno-media blitz, that they miss the Love. Now, we will begin working together in love to heal & unite, as we look at the TRUTH.
There is an abundance of joy, energy, playfulness, miracles, wonder, and mystery. All that is required is to wake up from the daydream and simply experience the beauty and the wonder this amazing experience bequests.
The question that every person can ask, every day is: how can I best nurture and deepen a compassionate loving heart.
In case you haven’t noticed, the sun doesn’t always rise in crimson.
The wind doesn’t always blow from the south.
The rains don’t always fall on the plains.
And so must you allow for your own rhythms in time.
Always in love,
— The Universe
Love that Deb.
Jupiter sextile Pluto on the New Year! That sounds spiritally fortuitous! At least! Lots of thoughts! What do you think?
Coming Full Circle — by Madisyn Taylor
When we come full circle there is the feeling that we have come to a familiar place but we are somehow different. Life is a circular journey & processes, and this is why things that are seem new often seem familiar. It is also why, whenever we work to release a habit, change a pattern, or overcome a fear, we may encounter that issue one last time, even after we thought we had conquered it. We may feel frustrated that after all our hard work we are still dealing with this. However, if we can maintain our resolve, we will achieve a new level of mastery.
At times like these, we deserve a moment of rest and self-congratulation. Coming full circle is like stepping into a clearing where, for a moment, we can see where we came from. It’s important to pause and take a look at the ground we’ve covered, honoring our courage, our persistence, and our achievement.
[…] will be in Scorpio for about a year, and you can read more about that cycle here, In its role as King of the Gods, Jupiter brings a higher awareness to the energies of the sign […]
I am a Scorpio and have the ability to detect artificial so called friends. I am a loner and quitly delve deeper into many subjects. My mother called me her Maverick!!! I seek knowledge everywhere. Maybe that’s why I love documentaries on ancient civilizations. I’m curious about everything. And, I just know when someone is dishonest to me. I sometimes feel others pain.
