Many astrologers are hard at work trying to predict the outcome of the election. Over the past year astrologers have come out in favor of both candidates for a variety of reasons. My personal feeling is that when astrologers attempt to predict the future and fail it gives the noble field of astrology a bad rap, when the fault is not in the astrology but in the fact that the future cannot be accurately predicted.
Anyway.
An accurate astrological reading is dependent upon accurate data. We can glean a great deal of information just from a birthdate, as I typically do with my profiles on this blog where a time of birth is not available. But an accurate time of birth sets up the structure of the chart – it shows the rising sign (persona) and the Midheaven (career) and describes the houses in which each planet lives and plots a general plan for our lives.
We have an accurate birth time for Donald Trump because his actual birth certificate was posted online. But Hillary Clinton has not produced a birth certificate, not surprising given her four planets in Scorpio and her Scorpionic penchant for secrecy and to keep her cards hidden in the game of politics.
Numerous birth times have been provided for Clinton. The most commonly used time until recently was 8 pm which would put her ascendant in the late degrees of Gemini, almost in Cancer. A rounded off birth time such as 8 pm is nearly always somewhat incorrect, usually early, and I always felt that a birth time even 10 minutes later with Cancer on the ascendant was a better fit. Cancer rising would explain her commitment to family and women’s issues in a way that the rest of her chart doesn’t, and also reflects her moon-shaped face. But astrology doesn’t always cooperate with our presupposed notions, and any speculative or “rectified” birth time is to be taken with a whole lot of grains of salt.
Recently there was a big upset in the world of professional astrology when respected astrologer Marc Penfield announced that he had a confirmed time of birth for Clinton that he would announce at an astrology conference which he did, claiming a birth time of 2:18 am that came from another astrologer who had gotten the time over the phone by calling the town in which she was born. You can read all about the ensuing brou-ha-ha here and here.
2023 UPDATE: Hillary had given her birth time as 8:00 pm, and most published birthcharts show her with 29 deg. Gemini on the ascendant. Because of the lack of reliable birth data my pre-2023 analyses did not include the ascendant. In March of 2023 a birth certificate was obtained showing a birth time of 6:45 pm although some are concerned about the lack of clarity of the time on the certificate.) It is probably unlikely that she will be back in the news at this point, but I believe the 6:45 pm time to be reliable for future analysis.
Another way to forecast the way the election *might * go is by looking at the charts for the running mates. Does Kaine’s show an increase in responsibility whereas Pence’s shows disappointment or vice versa?
I’m not sure that would be helpful, I don’t think most people are thinking VP when they go into the voting booth.
But the fate of the potential VP is tied to that of the potential President. So if the VP looks miserable transit-wise after the election, his team probably didn’t win. If the VP looks elated, just the opposite.
Lynn ~ Many progressive (and serious) journalists on the left continue to challenge and address the myth of Hillary’s alleged “commitment to family and women’s issues” in great detail.
For instance, millions of innocent victims (including women and children) have been killed or displaced by the endless wars, drone-strikes, interventions and oppressive policies/regimes HRC has supported and supports ~ in places like Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Pakistan and Palestine.
And families (again, this includes women and children) in the US and Mexico have been devastated by husband Bill’s welfare reform, crime bill and NAFTA. This is relevant because Hillary was an outspoken champion of them all at the time.
NAFTA alone resulted in the loss of millions of jobs and adequate wages, effectively destabilizing the wellbeing of families in the US and Mexico. Its passage also played a major role in the influx of Mexicans emigrating to the US seeking a higher
living wage. Until recently (and probably still), she’s favored another potentially disastrous trade agreement, the TPP, which will mean more corporate rights and far fewer governmental safeguards in place to protect workers and the environment.
There’s a reason Wall Street and large corporations like Walmart, (known for exploiting underpaid workers and opposing employee efforts to unionize and gain basic rights) love HRC, who, while serving on Walmart’s board made *no* effort to improve working conditions or wages, and by extension, the families Walmart employees supported.
Hillary’s positions are understandable in the sense that none of us can “serve two masters”.
Astrology aside, both the Democratic and Republican parties (and HC and DT) are a part of a system that values profits and power over people. Each of us decides for ourselves how much effort we’re willing to make to question then shake off the illusions and instead look at the facts (Neptune/Saturn) in order to determine what it is we value and how best those values are expressed.
If my comment is too provocative and you decide to delete it, I’ll understand. I guess I leave it hoping anyone who’s been misinformed or misled will benefit.
This isn’t a political blog and while I have my own opinions and I do express them from time to time, my main focus is to discuss the astrological implications of events in our world n a positive way. There are plenty of other sites where political implications can be discussed.
Lynn ~ I understand. I left my comment because there are people who’ll read a single statement like the one you made in your post about Hillary’s “commitment to family and women’s issues” and assume it to be true, if for no other reason than because they’ve heard it repeated so frequently along with stories about all of the positive (and none of the harmful) things she’s done during her long political career.
With DT (and scary as he is), what we see is probably what we’ll get. With Hilary, not so much ~ which is why I thought what I said was worth saying, from both an astrological and political perspective.
Indeed! Astrology – as modern practitioners would themselves are more likely to say, is predicated on correlation, not irrefutable causation. Utterances or even assertions should alway be cautionary otherwise a singular view leads to narrow dogma too easily dissembled and accepted.
Well said, Jason.
Lynn stated: “her four planets in Scorpio and her Scorpionic penchant for secrecy and to keep her cards hidden in the game of politics.”
I’ve wondered if Clinton isn’t borrowing a page from Nancy Reagan’s handbook, and using astrology advisors herself. She kept a low-profile during the last Mercury Retrograde. It would be nice to know her birth time, but w/ all that Scorpio I doubt it will ever be released. As for predictions, I am following Nate Silver.
Nate Silver missed the Trump phenomenon so he has lost some credibility for me. Without understanding the astrological backdrop the pundits can only go so far!
This might have contributed to Trump’s victory tonight.
