How appropriate that Harvey Weinstein, arguably the most powerful mogul in Hollywood today and perhaps in Hollywood history, was terminated from his leadership position at the Weinstein Company just as Jupiter (leadership) goes into Scorpio (sex and power).
Weinstein is notorious among Hollywood circles for his boorish behavior and sexual harassment allegations that span over decades. Over the past few days actresses who declined his advances have come forward to tell their Weinstein stories, and presumably there are many more who did not fight in order to save their careers.
The astrology chart of Harvey Weinstein (born March 19, 1952 in Queens NY, time unknown) shows his Sun at 29 degrees Pisces – the very last degree of sensitive and Pisces, bleeding into assertive and dominant Aries. The 29th degree is sometimes called the “anaretic” degree and is considered a critical placement that shows a significant lesson to be learned. In medieval astrology the “anareta” was a planet of destruction and considered to be dangerous. While modern astrology doesn’t take these significators literally, the 29th degree indicates a completion of some kind of karma and needs to be taken seriously.
The transition from Pisces to Aries involves the lesson of incorporating the assertive leadership of Aries into the compassion and sensitivity of Pisces, but in some cases one sign will react against the other which is what we see in Weinstein’s behavior. The Sun makes no aspects to any other planets (a “singleton”) suggesting an individual who stands alone and finds it difficult to combine one’s energies with others. (Brad Pitt is another famous Singleton Sun individual.)
Weinstein has Mars (sexuality and drive) in its own sign of Scorpio which can denote a highly sexualized individual. Depending on other chart factors this can also manifest as a powerfully charismatic individual. Scorpio dwells in the realm of power as well as sex, and Mars in Scorpio seeks both.
To complicate matters further, that Scorpio Mars is in a challenging aspect to Pluto which generally denotes a complex relationship to both power and sexuality. I have many clients with this chart aspect, many of whom have suffered sexual abuse or some kind of violence. I typically do not have the kind of clients who would be abusers, but this aspect of a power imbalance can represent both ends of the spectrum as well as anywhere in between.
Weinstein also suffers from a soul wound – a conjunction of the Moon (emotions, the mother and nurturing) to Chiron, planet of wounding and healing. The wound is exacerbated by challenging aspects from both Saturn (tests and challenges) and Uranus (abandonment and radical change) to the Moon. Typically this would suggest a difficult relationship with women generally and the mother in particular. Miriam Weinstein was an active part of the Weinstein companies since their inception, and we know very little about Harvey Weinstein’s actual relationship with his mother that would add any detail but it was certainly very complicated astrologically. We are just beginning to see how complex Weinstein’s relationships with women are.
Weinstein’s anger is legendary in Hollywood (see this article from 2002 and this one from 2001 for a detailed history of Weinstein’s company and some of his more egregious outbursts) and Weinstein admits to seeking help from psychological experts in controlling his anger. The kind of rage Weinstein exhibits can result from the Mars/Pluto combination, but when you add in the deep wound of the Moon/Chiron/Saturn/Uranus system, it gets amplified and complicated.
The progressed chart is a method used by astrologers to forecast significant times in a person’s life, and right now Weinstein’s core wound is being triggered (progressed Chiron has retrograded back to align with natal Chiron). Additionally, there is a Gemini New Moon in the progressed chart, suggesting the potential for a new beginning which is a beneficial thing during a time of personal destruction such as this one.
The fact of the casting couch in Hollywood is nothing new, nor is the sexual harassment of women to trade sexual favors for career advancement. But the power exerted by Harvey Weinstein reached a new degree:
Weinstein is often compared to the moguls of old—the doughty Jew among Wasp elites—but the analogies don’t do justice to his broader cultural horsepower. Neither indie hustler nor studio boss, Weinstein is a different beast altogether, a New York City behemoth with avid fingers in all corners of the pie. He and his brother run a company that released more movies than any other in the U.S. in the year 2000 and had the eighth-largest box-office receipts. To say that the barbarian is at the gate is to miss the fact that he’s already behind the velvet rope and iterating access. New York Magazine 2001
Unfortunately, Weinstein’s apparent genius enabled him to feed the monster of ego and rage to the point where he was not constrained by the rules that mere mortals live by.

Thanks Lynn for another great post about a difficult subject and how astrology can offer some insight into the complexity of our human experiences. It seems behind some of the most barbaric human behavior there are always wounds. It shows how we are all tasked with dealing with complex and sometimes painful aspects. Thanks again for your balanced writing!
Thank YOU Gina, for reading.
PS In my natal chart I also have Saturn in Pisces at the last degree in my 6th house. It ain’t been much fun, I can tell you that much for sure!!!
All those dear women being sexually abused by Hollywood mogul. And how many more Weinstein’s are there in Hollywood?
It didn’t take long for more assaults or lies to be revealed:
Matt Damon was called out by The Wrap editor in chief Sharon Waxman over how long he’s known of the producer’s alleged crimes. Waxman alleges that in 2004, Damon helped kill a story she was working on that addressed the producer’s alleged sexual misconduct.
“I am saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over decades,” Affleck exclaimed via Twitter on Tuesday. One of those women who came forward is having none of Affleck’s statement. On Tuesday, actress Rose McGowan simply tweeted, “Ben Affleck f**k off.” McGowan then tweeted directly to Affleck, alleging he knew of Weinstein’s behavior years ago. TMZ posted an old interview from 2004, where he had a Canadian TV host sit on his lap as he exclaimed, “They would like the show better if you did it topless, wouldn’t they?” He has yet to comment on this incident.
I looked at his chart and see that transiting Jupiter has just arrived exactly into his Scorpio house (at 29-0) with his Progressed Mars just 3 degress away in Scorpio. A bit telling in hindsight?
That progressed Mars will take about 4-5 years to ripen, so it will be interesting to see what happens in the meantime.
In my humble opinion, without an accurate birth time, house positions and progressions are mere speculation, so become irrelevant to the conversation.
At best you could use planetary transits to look for angles to natal positions, but even then, the Moon and Ascendant become somewhat redundant in terms of accurate delineation.
I will add, I’m not a professional astrologer. Maybe Lynn can offer some feedback in this regard.
Again, sorry for my big delay in replying to this comment. You are exactly right that house positions are speculation without a birth time, but planetary progressions are easily to calculate with only a date of birth, except for the fast-moving moon. Mercury moves four degrees in a day so progressions of Mercury will be close but not exact, but progressed positions of the other planets beginning with Venus and Mars can be accurately calculated.
Thank you for your insight. I wonder if his wife knew what he was up to.
She would have to have heard the rumors – interesting that at age 41 she is in her Uranus Opposition cycle now – the time period when we experience great changes, classically known as the Midlife Crisis.
Thank you for your insight. I wonder if his wife knew what he was up to.

Thanks for the great work on a subject that needs more air time and now is getting attention. If I may just add this: in LA, Weinstein’s behavior was an open secret and his company paid many women for their silence. Seth McFarland even joked about Weinstein during an Oscars’ nominee show. The general public had probably not heard of him but his reputation as a sexual predator wasn’t unknown. Also, while he’s been a power player in Hollywood, I don’t think he could be considered one of the majors in movie history. Although Heaven knows, their behavior wouldn’t bear much scrutiny either.
Articles that I read in researching this post suggested that Weinstein wielded more power in more different areas than other producers – perhaps not in the history of film, but certainly in modern history. Power comes at a price, and thank the goddess for these women that are speaking out now.
It’s important to note that it isn’t that women are speaking out now– implying that they haven’t before. It’s been an open secret for a very long time, (Seth McFarland said the reason he knew about it, and made the public joke, is that a female colleague told him about her experience. ) And the women who tried to go public with reports of this behavior, were ostracized: their careers over for good.
The real question is: why has Harvey Weinstein only now been widely acknowledged as a sexual predator and criminal? This information has always been buried to protect the guilty. This behavior has been excused, winked at, and covered up forever. So why is it now being called out as a crime? That’s something worth investigating.
I suppose we could glibly say that astrologically this has happened now because Jupiter entered Scorpio. The exposure of Harvey Weinstein is the first cog in a larger wheel that will expose the dark underbelly of the entertainment industry, and it is extending into the business world as well.
Just came across this & ordered it. From Deep Space with Love: by Mike Dooley — A reader’s comment – This channeled information resonated and felt genuine with inspirational & encouraging messages, which greatly helped me to stay hopeful. In the present toxic and negative climate, this book gives me reason to feel the human race is innately good.
The book’s 4 parts: Life on Brahoska (Frank’s planet), Life on Earth, The Greater Universe, and Building a Better World.
•Brahoskans’ culture, relationships, education, food supply, technology, leisure, conception of time, and much more
•Aspects of Earthly existence, from current political and social realities to the truth about the Loch Ness Monster
•Angels, other dimensions, and what we can do to make a better world, starting now
Why are societies so deeply divided? What happened to the many advanced cultures that preceded ours?
Are there sentient beings visiting us from other planets?
And how far might spirituality take us?
Being Gentle with Ourselves by Madisyn Taylor
During those times when our lives are filled with what seems to be constant change and growth, it is important to remember that we need to be gentle with ourselves. When things seem to be moving quickly, it is especially essential that we make a point to slow down and be gentle with ourselves. Being gentle with ourselves doesn’t mean that we don’t accomplish things. Instead it means that we honor ourselves on an ongoing basis and take care of the needs of our bodies. The more we are able to treat our bodies with gentleness, the more tenderness and compassion we will call forth into our lives.
I’m thinking the Progressed Mars points to all the court & upcoming legal matters against him. Like Cosby, he doesnt seem very worried. With all his wealth to buy justice and most of anything he wants along with residing in CA, sympathy for his “sickness” will make him look like the victim.
And the hits just keep on coming: Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone is the latest Hollywood elite accused of sexual misconduct..
It’s sad when people excuse this as a disease, it might or might not be, but they did abuse there position and power. There probably are 100’s more that have been abused by him and/or others that are embarrassed or some other reason won’t come forward. One girl told Jane Fonda about a situation and she did nothing. She’s sorry now, well you’re a day late and a dollar short. Both men and women ignored his behavior and possibly others.
Why do astrologers continue to call Mars ‘in its own sign of Scorpio’ or refer to Mars as the ‘traditional ruler’ of Scorpio?
In modern astrology, Mars is the ruler of the 1st house and Aries. Pluto rules the 8th house and Scorpio.
The only reason I can think of is to use this association for a biased narrative.
Ant. It is because traditional rulership has resonance in chart interpretation. All astrogical interpretation, after the event, has bias. Don’t let it bug you.
I’m not sure how I missed these comments before. Please remember that Pluto was only discovered in 1930. Prior to that, Mars ruled Scorpio exclusively. In current times, most modern astrologers consider Pluto the modern ruler of Scorpio. The other signs with dual rulership are Aquarius (Saturn/Uranus) and Pisces (Jupiter/Neptune). And for me, I consider Chiron to be the modern ruler of Virgo with Mercury as the traditional ruler.
