Every year the Lion’s Gate Portal makes the news.
- “Expect old desires to resurface and new clarity to drop in,” Psychic Solas, a top-rated advisor at Psychic Source, told VICE. [link]
- “The Lion’s Gate Portal is a cosmic event steeped in mysticism, spirituality, and transformative energy. Occurring annually between July 26 and August 12, with its peak on August 8 (8/8), this celestial alignment is believed to bring powerful opportunities for spiritual growth, manifestation, and connection with higher realms.” [link]
- The Lion’s Gate 88 Portal is the opening of a galactic gate that delivers high-frequency energy into our beings, allowing us to rebirth our spirit energy. [link]
Even the Today show is in on the mystery:
The Lion’s Gate Portal is an astrological term describing the alignment of the sun in Leo, the star Sirius, which is the brightest star as seen from Earth, the constellation Orion’s Belt and the Earth.
Technically, this alignment happens between July 28 and Aug. 12. But Aug. 8 is the most pivotal — some might say magical — day of the Lion’s Gate Portal because it falls in the middle of the dates.
This is a bit of a mishmash and there is a lot of snake oil to come out of it. You can pay for DNA activations which are supposed to be more powerful during this time. You can purchase herbs and candles to facilitate the “luckiest day.” And for only $400 you can purchase “light code” sessions and a private activation.
The numerology of 8:8 may have significance to some which is one thing. But the pseudo astrology is something else. The heliacal rising of Sirius occurs around the end of July, depending on latitude, but this has nothing to do with astrology. For example, the Sun moves from 4º-20º Leo between July 26 and August 12th. Sirius is at 14º Cancer in the tropical Zodiac so it’s not anywhere near the Sun at this time. In the sidereal zodiac, or actual astronomical location, Sirius is at 20º Gemini so it’s even farther. And Orion’s Belt is in a different location entirely, although its stars do point to Sirius. But none of this has anything to do with Leo the lion.
The Sun at 15º Leo IS said to be an important portal of energies in the ancient wheel of the year of the Celtic and other old religions, as it is a “cross-quarter” day that lies between the solstices. These midpoints of the fixed signs (the solstices and equinoxes occur at the cardinal signs) are said to be power points, which does make sense because of the inherent power of the fixed signs.

I do not mean to say that I don’t believe there are portals of energy in which great awakenings can happen. And perhaps this is one of those. All I ask is let’s not use pseudo-astrological terms that mean nothing and simply create confusion.
Personal transformation is a process of conscious awakening, and preying on the ignorant should not be done in the name of astrology.

Marvelous, Lynn. A sensitive and grounded discussion of a subject that may be sacred to some.
I too would be at the head of the line for transformation, DNA activation, etc., and certainly those processes are at work on us all in these days. But it will likely require more time and patience than a sudden, shaktipat-type enlightenment. Don’t we all wish!
Tnanks Valerie. I certainly don’t mean to cause offense, merely to point out errors that have to do with the astrology of the articles.
Articles like this are why I love you Lynn!!! You always bring us the real deal.
With respect, you would not have posted this commentary if you knew what the Lions Gate is. Clearly you do not. I suspect that whoever wrote the article you were quoting from did not know either. However, given the way that the humans seem to abuse every advantage they are given from up above, it is probably best for the confusion and rejection to be promulgated.
Robert, thank you for your comment and I would like to know more about the Lions Gate since you apparently know more about it that I don’t know. But I do believe that if someone is going to promote an idea and call it astrology, that it should be astrologically correct.
I wonder if the “gate” concept is derived from the fact that Cancer was/is esoterically known as the “Gate of Man” (whereas Capricorn is/was the “Gate of God). Some say that Praesepe, in particular, was known as a gateway, and it moved into the first decan of Leo quite a while ago. Interestingly, the Chinese name for Praesepe and a few stars around it is translated as something like the “Ghost” asterism.
I hesitate to step on any sensitive toes – Valerie quite rightly says the whole subject you’re discussing may be sacred to some. But it does strike me that the second article to which you link was written by someone who poorly understands Barbara Hand Clow’s Pleiadian writings. I recognise several terms that Barbara uses. Still, it’s possible that the Pleiadians are communicating with Kyrona as well.
Well, the Lion’s Gate I believe refers to Leo. I have some concerns about channeled material – I am not at all a total skeptic because after all I channel information in my readings with clients. And perhaps the belief in a magical portal that opens at the heliacal rising of Sirius is a positive thing as it promotes the desire and intention for greater understanding and wisdom. I do become concerned, though, when something spiritual begins to smell like snake oil.
If you find Keys Under the Sphinx by Ray Mardyks, you will encounter the source material for the Lion’s Gate Portal, Sirius rising, etc. It was written in 1997.
Unfortunately this book isn’t available anywhere. I did find this article. I will update the post.
I’m not trying to debunk energy portals or the significance of ancient Egypt to the transformation of consciousness. But I do feel that if people are going to use science or astrology to explain their magic, it should be correct.
Also the specific date of July 26 for the rising of Sirius comes from Mr. Mardyks’ research, which used this specific date due to it being the new year date of the ‘new age’ 13-Moon neo-Mayan calendar based on the Dreamspell game. July 26 is the specific day Sirius rises in major Mayan sites such as Chichen Itza. This was published c. 1994 and then repeatedly restated without credit to Mr. Mardyks. As stated in Wikipedia, Mr. Mardyks was the astrologer who coined the phrase, “galactic alignment” in relationship to 2012 and seems to be one of the few who understands the “galactic” astrological implications of these “New Age” holidays, including the Harmonic Convergence, 11:11, Lion’s Gate, etc. Do you find his ‘astrology’ to be correct?
I see he has a Facebook page where he posts quite prolifically, including this article. I think his work is quite interesting, and he certainly seems to have his finger on the astronomy in a way that I do not.
Keys Under the Sphinx was not a book; only an article. Two relevant, though out-of-print books by Mr. Mardyks include Sedona Starseed: A Galactic Initiation (1995) and Maya Calendar: Voice of the Galaxy (1997).
I do remember him from the 1990s. Please note that I am not being critical to the concept of stargates and energy portals, but to the New Age world’s tendency to circulate rumors and distorted factoids.
There are just as many misleading spiritual sites are there misleading political site and groups on BOTH sides.
8-8 is always magical for me, because that is my Mother’s birthday.
So, if there is any magic here, I’ll take it.
It’s how we live in each moment. Do we look for the bad every situation or are we grateful and find the blessing?
We can be the change we want to see, we can create change that has a ripple affect that touches others in a positive way.
Love, Joy, and Harmony.
Additionally, EVERYDAY, we attract that which we put out.
If we send Love, Unity, Acceptance, we will receive Love, Unity, and Acceptance. High energy.
But if we send out complaining, discontent, and unappreciation (low energy), this is what we get back.
I see this all the time with family and friends. Those that do or do NOT have health or money that are grateful, receive more to be grateful about.

People in Conspiracy Circles are talking about this Lions Gate occurring on 8/8 as well. It’s a little frustrating. Like you mention it’s a little confused. To me dates for a Lions Gate would be when the Sun enters Leo on July 23rd in western astrology or August 10th in IAU astrology.
From the place of intention, your comments don’t seem to include the point of the article (Keys Under the Sphinx). The “Lion’s Gate” was preparation for the “Galactic Alignment” (1998-2001) which was the beginning of a ‘galactic’ process that concluded in 2012.
In human terms, one must commit to living with an open heart in unconditional love (Regulus) to align one’s lower self with their higher (galactic) self to serve the New Earth (2012).
The invitation was sent from the Galaxy in 1987 (Harmonic Convergence) … many were called, while very, very few answered the call.
For the most part, these celestial events play out more in the astrology of the Earth, and in humanity only in as much as it is a part of the Earth. Individual humans need to be very committed to the Earth (Goddess?) before being able to access this level consciously.
As long as humans strive for unconditional love, then talk of Lion’s Gate may be beneficial.
Galactic ally,
Ray Mardyks
Ray, thanks for your comments and clarifying the original intent of your article.

Lynn
Thank you, Lynn, for explaining what I sensed all along.
You’re very welcome, Wendy. 💖
