Ceres is still relatively new in the astrological pantheon, but in my work it has come to symbolize how well we relate to our incarnation. This encompasses so many things: How we relate to food. How we nourish and nurture ourselves. How we handle loss and grief.

The word “self-care” has become sort of trite and over-used, but self-care is exactly what the asteroid-now-called-planet Ceres is all about. Ceres is about our relationship with food (remember it was Ceres/Demeter who starved the world when her daughter was abducted into the underworld) and I believe that Ceres has come into mainstream consciousness to teach us about how to have a positive relationship with a physical incarnation as the energies of the Aquarian transition become more complex to manage.

As time continues to speed up, and we are continually bombarded with an ever-increasing amount of electromagnetic force fields (from cell phones, satellites, wifi networks, etc.) our bodies’ energetic systems can become overloaded.  Ceres teaches us how to balance our energy systems with nutrition, movement, ritual bathing and other ceremonies to help us connect more deeply within.

The sign that Ceres travels through reveals the best way to take care of ourselves; Ceres in Pisces calls for a gentle approach to all manners of things. Nourishing our spirituality. Enhancing our dreams through healthy sleep patterns. Maintaining loving boundaries with some permeability. Attending to intuition, practicing empathy.

Ceres begins its Pisces journey at a time of Peak Pisces. The New Moon on February 27th brings together four traditional planets PLUS Ceres, the North Node and Neptune to unite the planetary energies in an unfurling of ecstatic energies. Anything that we do to further a state of oneness – the bliss of transcendent consciousness – is highlighted here.

NOT highlighted is anything requiring a grounded sense of structure and accomplishment. We are looking at everything in our lives through magical glasses – there is no Earth energy in the sky to encourage practicality and greater stability. The potential for ecstatic spirituality is great right now, but if possible we will be better off waiting until some of these planets move into Aries before trying to get much done.

Pisces is beautiful and magical, but all of this watery mist can also obscure the cold hard facts, especially with Saturn, the planet of structure, also in Pisces where the boundaries are blurred even further. Remembering this, and planting our feed on the ground at times, will help us to get the most out of this time of wonder. 💖
