The astrology of Pete Hegseth: A portrait in fragile masculinity

In posts about political figures I try to avoid bias and let the astrology speak for itself. I’m a person with strong opinions though, and some may leak through.

Sometimes the most aggressive people are the most insecure, utilizing aggressive behaviors to feel more confident and give them a sense of control. We are in a time right now where gender roles are being realigned, and it’s only been 50 years since women have been allowed to have their own credit card without the husband’s permission. Some men are having a difficult time adjusting.

War in Iran and the astrology of the U.S. in 2026

still true after 60 years

I think we can all agree that things are really crazy right now in the United States, and that sets off a domino effect around the world. The U.S. government has a bad habit of getting involved in other countries’ business in the name of “democracy” and that is very evident right now. In addition we are under the helm of an erratic president (more on him later in the post) at a time of major astrological shifts. A new era is dawning.

The Macro effect

For those of […]

Neptune, Uranus, and the US at war

History may not always repeat itself, but it often rhymes.

Nowhere is this more true than in astrology in which we often try to predict the future based on astrological indicators from the past. It is true that the last time Neptune entered Aries the Civil War began, and this has led some astrologers to predict that we are about to embark on another war. And in fact President Trump has just announced that he will rename the Pentagon the “Department of War,” signifying a change of perspective from defense to offense.

Whether […]

Why the U.S. Pluto Return was only the beginning

Writing about political astrology is a depressing business these days. We are all Cassandras, given the gift of prophecy by Apollo but helpless to change the future.

Some of you will be familiar with the U.S. Pluto return, about which I and others wrote about frequently over the past ten years. In my writings I try to be hopeful where I can be, and in April 2023 I wrote:

2025 will be a year for the history books. Both Uranus and Neptune will both change signs, and Neptune will oppose […]

Pluto in Aquarius and the Dark Enlightenment

If you haven’t heard of the “Dark Enlightenment” you’re not alone – the Dark Enlightenment  is an “alt-right” neo-fascistic movement that advocates a return to extreme traditional values and monarchy in lieu of democracy, which it perceives as chaotic and ineffective. The movement began with Curtis Yarvin, who has been much in the news lately, and Nick Land – both software engineers in Silicon Valley, and has been supported by Peter Thiel, a Silicon Valley billionaire who was once a partner of Elon Musk in the startup which became PayPal.

The rise of […]

Donald Trump update March 2025

Please keep any comments centered around the astrology.

I have written a few posts about Trump over the last decade, and if you want to catch up on his astrological profile you might want to check out this post from September 2015 (hard to believe that was ten years ago!!).

Things are getting pretty heated and seem even more erratic than some of us expected so I thought it was time for an update.

Transiting Uranus, the planet of sudden change and radical behavior, is crossing the Midheaven, the point of public […]

The astrology of the U.S. election, November 5, 2024

INTRODUCTION:

Predicting the outcome of an election is a tempting exercise, but nearly always results in failure.  In 2016 astrologers everywhere attempted to predict whether Clinton or Trump would win the November US Presidential election.  You can geek out here and read the article and comments breaking down results by whether the astrologer followed the tropical or sidereal zodiac, was US-based or international etc., but the important takeaway is that of the 90 predictions collected in the article, 62.1% predicted a Clinton win and 37.9% predicted a Trump […]

2024 election musings: July Full Moon edition

The past week has brought about some stunning reversals in the unfolding drama of the U.S. political scene. I’ve moved most of my political writing to sound bytes on Twitter/X and AstroNotes on Substack but the events of this week seem like a bigger picture situation that deserve a more permanent place on the blog.

On Sunday July 21st there was a Full Moon at the 29th degree of Capricorn. This was the second Full Moon in Capricorn, something that is often called a “Blue Moon” because […]

Censorship and the dual nature of Aquarius

The idea of planetary rulership. Under the traditional rulership scheme in astrology, the Sun rules Leo, the Moon rules Cancer, and each of the other planets governs the other signs in a beautifully ordered way: Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, Venus rules Taurus and Libra, Mars rules Aries and Scorpio, Jupiter rules Pisces and Sagittarius, and Saturn bookends the arrangement with rulership of Aquarius and Capricorn. (For more on the history and meaning of this arrangement visit Skyscript here.)

When the modern “outer” planets came along, they were ascribed […]

The astrological state of the Union 2024

One of the many things on which astrologers do not agree is what chart to use for the United States. I use the Sibly chart for 5:10 pm on July 4, 1776 which is the most common chart and the one that works for me.

Many of you are aware that the United States has been going through a Pluto return over the past couple of years but really we have been through a heavily Plutonic period since Pluto in Sagittarius transited over the ascendant of […]
