It’s true: Astrology can’t predict the state of your marriage

This article was originally posted in 2013.  astrology compatibilityFirst, there is not an astrologer in the world today that makes prediction on marriage success using sun signs.  Thanks to the Internet there is enough information available to the general public about astrology to educate everyone that astrology involves far more than just the sign the Sun was in at the time of your birth.

So I am very surprised that if an academic institution like the University of Manchester was going to conduct an in-depth study on the […]

I’ve revived my YouTube channel

Last year I started a YouTube channel but I couldn’t really decide if it fit me or not.  There are so many YouTube channels, and most of my readers and clients are over 40 which isn’t the YouTube demographic.  So I made a deal with the Universe: I was going to stop making videos but if I reached 400 subscribers I would start again.  The channel languished for months, and then all of a sudden (I suppose because people are home now) there was an infusion of people subscribing to the channel.

I like the idea of a Monday weekly forecast, […]

Kids say the darndest things, explained by astrology

In this hilarious article a NY teacher collected funny things her students said and posted them on Instagram. I decided to make this a teaching moment by taking some of the funniest ones and creating an imaginary astrological profile!  Enjoy.  😀

“I’m just going to put all the boys that want to marry me in a line and do eenie meenie miney mo.” Chloe, 4 years old.
– Sun in Aries, Venus in Libra, Mars in Scorpio

“I’m happy on the inside, I just don’t want to talk about it.”  anonymous, 5 […]

Friday repost: Edgar Cayce on Planetary Reincarnation

New feature! On Fridays I’ll select one of the over 2500 articles I’ve written to revive for today’s times.  Today we explore Edgar Cayce’s unusual views on reincarnation and planets.

“Ascension” by Juan Carlos Garcia

I found this article about Edgar Cayce and astrology linked to the Astrology Weekly forum. I am particularly interested in the comments about the afterlife realms:

Reality is multi-dimensional. We are multi-dimensional beings who exist simultaneously in a multi-dimensional reality. Long ago, our bodies evolved from primates. Even longer ago, our minds evolved from […]

Astral Hell: Is it a thing?

The astrological Twitterverse is aflame today with reports of something called the Infernal Astral, or Astral Hell.  Apparently in Brazil this is an established thing among astrologers.  I found this website which says:

You have certainly heard someone complain that they are experiencing ” astral hell ” as they approach their birthday. This period is popularly known as a turbulent phase where everything goes wrong and the person goes through some kind of suffering or difficulty. It is believed that during this period things tend not to work very well, health can […]

Tell me something good.

It’s human nature to seek pleasure and avoid pain.  Nobody wants to feel bad, or go through difficult situations.  I have been an astrologer for more than half of my life now, so it’s hard for me to remember what it was like before I knew about planetary cycles that were likely to bring challenges that required adjustment and change, but I imagine that it is pretty confusing.  Life is going great, and then all of a sudden here comes a curve ball and suddenly I’m feeling depressed for apparently no […]

Pluto: A Case Study

This article has been updated from an earlier post.

Last week I saw a client (let’s call her Sylvia) whose birthchart demonstrates the power of Pluto. Sylvia’s Sun is in the hard-working sign of Capricorn: Capricorns typically have a difficult life when they’re young but because they’re such hard workers (ruled by the Celestial Taskmaster himself, Saturn) they can be quite powerful as they age and incorporate life’s lessons. She also has a Grand Trine including Mars, Jupiter and her Moon, bestowing a sense of inner trust (Jupiter/Moon) that life has […]

A journey from modern Iraq back into ancient wisdom and modern science

This article was originally posted in 2009.  Astrologer Dave Mockaitis has a fascinating essay connecting the Yezidi, a Kurdish people on the border of Syria and Iraq, back to the Picatrix, a collection of Arabic texts that was widely used by mages during the Renaissance period.  He then draws connections back to the Sabians of Harran, adding a layer of interest to my post on the Sabian Symbols,

He then goes back to Hermes Trismegistus, a fascinating quasi-mythological figure who appears to combine the Greek Hermes with the […]

Millennials and astrology – a natural fit

Deviant Art

Last year reporter for the Atlantic explored the connection between millennials and astrology:

Many people I spoke to for this piece said they had a sense that the stigma attached to astrology, while it still exists, had receded as the practice has grabbed a foothold in online culture, especially for young people.

“Over the past two years, we’ve really seen a reframing of New Age practices, very much geared toward a Millennial and young Gen X quotient,” says Lucie Greene, the worldwide director of […]
