Saturn square Uranus. There is really only one storm happening right now and that is the final square alignment between Saturn and Uranus, The Story of 2021 (™Lynn Hayes). Saturn demands that we obey the rules, and Uranus inspires us to break out of rules that don’t support our growth as authentic individuals. These two can be powerful allies – Uranus and Saturn are connected through their joint rulership of Aquarius where the rules and structures of Saturn are enhanced and modernized through the creative radicalization of Uranus. But we haven’t seen that in real life this year. Instead there has been chaos and violent disputes (Uranus) over control measures (Saturn) to attempt to hold the Coronavirus at bay.
The final phase of this alignment occurs in mid-December, after which the two planets will separate from the exact square aspect until September through November 2022 when they will resume their battles for one final episode (stay tuned for my analysis of the astrology of 2022, coming in a few weeks). The lesson here is to find the balance point between blindly following the rules of others (Saturn) and blindly rebellion against any control, even if it is for the highest good (Uranus).
Saturn sextile Chiron. A fortunate subtheme of 2021 has been the gentle sextile between Saturn and Chiron, helping to soften the hard edges and facilitate the moving through challenges with greater ease. These more subtle alignments are often buried under the drama of the more intense and challenging influences, but they are operating nonetheless to relieve some of the pressure. This combination began in February 2021 and culminates this week. Focusing on an intention to heal some of the challenges in our lives can help us to better access this gentle assistance.
And now, the week ahead. Dates and times are for the Eastern time zone (UTC-5), please adjust for your own locality.
Monday November 22. The week begins with the Moon in sensitive Cancer, and with no other planetary aspects today the lunar energies take on more importance. A challenging square from the Moon to Chiron in the afternoon may bring up unpleasant emotions which are begging for release – breathe into these old feelings and they will soon find their exit point especially since Tuesday the Sun conjoins the South Node of the past.
Tuesday November 23. The conjunction of the Sun to the South Node offers an opportunity to recognize something critical from the past, echoing Monday’s theme of release. These nodal aspects are not something we usually even notice, but they can be significant nonetheless. The Cancer Moon forms alliances that are primarily harmonious, making this a day of ease and balance.
Wednesday November 24. Mercury enters Sagittarius on Wednesday, leaving the intensity of Scorpio for the optimism of Sagittarius. In Scorpio Mercury can bring a deeper wisdom, but we usually find it easier to achieve happiness when Mercury is in Sagittarius, especially with the Moon leaving sensitive Cancer for Leo where it will spend a few days. The Moon in Leo seeks joy and laughter, so this is an excellent combination for a break from the intensity we had earlier in November.
Thursday November 25. The Leo Moon is active on Thursday, simultaneously creating some tension followed by emotional release for much of the morning EST, and irritability and frustration may arise later in the evening EST. These lunar aspects are fast moving and will not bother us for long. (Moon opposes Saturn 3:51 am, trine Chiron 4:09 am, square Uranus 10:32 am, square Mars 10:19 pm, all EST).
Friday November 26. Today is the final exact phase of the harmonious Saturn/Chiron aspect described in the introduction. This has been building for a week or two, and it is doubtful that you will notice anything on this day, but there may be a release of some kind with no lunar aspects to interfere.
The Moon moves into Virgo at 9:11 pm EST, bringing a focus to the details and all aspects of health.
Saturday November 27. In the buildup to the Sun conjunction to Mercury on the 28th, both the Sun and Mercury oppose Ceres. Ceres is the planet which describes our relationship to our physical bodies, and under this influence we may tend to neglect the delicate balance of the body, mind, spirit system which facilitates a harmonious physical incarnation. The Moon is in Virgo now where we long to find that balance, so this would be an excellent weekend to find ways to take care and nurture yourself and your relationship, both physical and mental, to the body. This is different for everyone, but since Ceres is involved starting with a plan for delicious food that nurtures all of the senses would be a good start! There is a square from the
Sunday November 28. The conjunction of the Sun to Mercury bookends the Mercury retrograde cycle. Richard Nolle has described this period of Sun/Mercury conjunctions with the retrograde cycle in the middle as “Mercury Max.” (You can read lots more about that here.) Mercury is at its closest point to Earth during this period which makes it and everything it rules a dominant theme – communication, messaging, conversation.
The conjunction of the Sun to Mercury brings even more light into these areas and makes the processing of information that much more important. The Moon is in Virgo now where we are very aware of the details, and on Sunday the Moon is active in primarily harmonious alignments which help us to feel more balanced.
The Moon will enter Libra on Monday, November 29 at 3:54 am and that balance and harmony will feel even more critical.
Overall, this week is overwhelmingly supportive, which is very good news! Please note that if you are currently experiencing a highly potent planetary alignment in your own chart that stronger influence will prevail. But these supportive and rebalancing influences can provide additional aid at difficult times.

Welcome to sag season
Yay!! 😃👍🏼😃
thank you, and today is my Birthday so I find this all good news indeed
Happy birthday Maureen!
Thank you Lynn – this is so on point and helpful to read – the Uranian / Saturnian tango so well expressed
I cut out articles in the newspaper today that reflected this dance – this rejiggering – how 700 Indian Farmers won their battle over corporate farming injustices – and sat for a year in peaceful protest!
In Myanmar military soldiers who were “blindly following the rules” of a brutal dictatorship and killing civilians are defecting and fighting for Democracy. Saturn trying to control and the URANIAN URGE TO CREATIVELY and inventively reorganize.
Yes, there is so much going on in the world to reflect this. And now a new virus variant to create even more pressure! ❤️
thank you always for your articles. Keeps me thinking. Is there any significance that today we heard about the new variant of concern and the market is way down same day as chiron/saturn aspect?
I don’t think it makes sense to make that connection, Kala – that aspect has certainly happened before without these results. The transits of Mars to Saturn and Uranus along with the lunar eclipse on the 19th didn’t help, but we are in a bigger cycle of change – a shift between the ages. I continue to see this virus as an emissary from nature to attempt to get human life back on track and rebalance the natural world.
Thanks Lynn ❤
Thank you, Lynn. I don’t often comment, but I love reading your readings! Thanks for all you do for us. <3
Oh, thanks so much Mary Beth!! ❤️❤️❤️
