Astrological update for the week of June 13-20, 2022
There is a lot going on here, and the bigger influences tend to outshine the lunar aspects so we will put those on hold this week.
Sagittarius SuperMoon. This week’s Full Moon in Sagittarius (June 14, 11:51 am EDT) is a SuperMoon (™ astrologer Richard Nolle), meaning it is closer to Earth than at other times. When planetary bodies are closer to Earth their influence is stronger, which is why Mercury retrograde periods are so critical for communication – that is the time when Mercury is closest to Earth.
Every Full Moon tends to amplify our feelings and emotional triggers, and the SuperMoon simply intensifies that tendency which is already at work. However, this Full Moon is in Sagittarius, with the Sun in Gemini – the two signs of knowledge and wisdom. There is a dearth of the water element in the sky right now, and water is the element through which we process feelings, intuition and emotion. This Full Moon encourages us to be curious (Gemini Sun) and seek a higher path to real knowledge (Sagittarius). Under the Sagittarius Full Moon we know that growth and evolution is the goal, and that confidence is all we need to get there.
This Full Moon chart engages some powerful allies and teachers. Both the Gemini Sun and Sagittarius Moon have a tendency to be ungrounded and can lack focus, but Saturn lends its grounding realism to the mix to aid in forging practical plans to achieve the sense of growth and peak experience that Sagittarius craves. That will be a big help since Neptune squares the lunation, however, tempting us into fantastic adventures which may not make sense from a practical perspective.
Mercury in Gemini. In other news, Mercury finally re-enters Gemini today (June 13) after a long sojourn through Gemini and then retrograding back into Taurus before turning direct again. Mercury is most at home in Gemini where curiosity and a thirst for experience can prevail; there is more fluidity and flexibility in our thoughts and actions which aid in the processing of experiences to enrich our day to day world.
Mars conjunct Chiron in Aries. Mars is in Aries now where it is at its most Mars-y, enhancing our motivation and desire and aiding in the focus of Will to achieve our intentions. Mars doesn’t care for road blocks in the best of times, but when it travels through Aries it can encourage impulsivity and restlessness. When Mars conjoins Chiron, the planet of wounding and healing, it can activate resentments and old hurt feelings that really need to emerge so that they can be healed. This isn’t a pleasant experience but can be an important part of any healing process.
This aspect culminates on Wednesday June 15 but will be in effect for much of the week. Watch for challenges in relationships this week under this influence, especially with the amplification of the SuperMoon to any emotions that are not well-regulated.
Solar aspects on Thursday. The aspects from Saturn and Neptune that are highlighted in the Full Moon chart culminate on Thursday. Saturn helps us to find greater balance, and this will begin to build on Wednesday to help ground any challenges from the Mars/Chiron incidents. Under the Neptune influence, though, we may have more difficulty focusing or getting a handle on potential emotional ups and downs. We can that Saturn influence to maintain focus, and just breathe through any emotional challenges that come up this week. ❤️
