Today’s New Moon is in the cardinal sign of Aries – the first sign of the Spring season. There is a sense of new beginnings – of pregnant anticipation. Something is about to burst forth, to blossom and the old is made new again.
The New Moon occurs today at 2:45 pm Eastern and falls at 9 degrees Aries. Both the Sun and Moon link up with Uranus, the planet of revolution, encouraging us to shed the shackles of the past and the restrictions of our established patterns and routines so that we can be transformed by this new energy.
These three planets and lights in Aries form a square to Pluto, planet of destruction and regeneration. This pressure for change is not an invitation – it is a requirement. Pluto will ensure that anything standing in our way will be decimated so that the force for change can work its magic with or without our cooperation.
Jupiter is involved here too – the “great benefic” with its super-confidence and gift of good fortune and opportunity, but here there is a challenge to surrender our ideologies and our need to be right. The old gods are destroyed when Jupiter and Pluto go to war, and there are new gods to be discovered.
This is a hint to prepare us for the next few weeks which will bring us more of this intense conflicting energy that paves the way for a transformational future. The energy will continue to intensify as Mars plays more of an active role, but for now the New Moon energy can inspire us with excitement and encourage us to follow the Aries archetype of adventure as we blaze new trails of human experience.
This is no time to look backwards and mourn the past. The past is over, and the memories are fading. The future is before us, and waiting.

“For the willing, destiny guides them, for the unwilling, destiny drags them.” Sounds like a guideline for this cycle! Fabulous article by the way.
Nice.
My job ended suddenly yesterday. 2nd house new moon and uranus transiting 2nd house. Pluto transiting the 1st (Placidus) demanding more value and appreciation for me. God only knows about work and a livelihood that is sustainable, but the astrology fits, even if today I am still shocked. April will be a breeze after Marches storms as I’m totally surrendered to the moment. Thanks Lynn
Thanks, Lynn. I feel big changes ahead too. Mars retro in Libra is a challenge for the time being, but I’m still making slow progress. This New Moon is a step in the right direction.
Hummmm….. Thanks for all the great insight. I don’t mean any disrespect, but if you wouldn’t mind allowing me to process the last sentence in the comment section, I be very grateful.

I am a person who questions some of the social norm statements that the masses get behind without critical analysis. I had a “red flag” go up after reading this last sentence, so I ask myself what was it that concerned me?
These are the feelings that came to the surface: First the message felt extremely Aries with out balance of Cancer-the Moon, the quality of reflection. Questioning/reflecting (Cancer) on impulsive action (Aries) before it destroys (Pluto) everything we’ve built through cooperative means (Libra) might be a useful to us, society, and our social structures (Capricorn). I do understand letting go and moving forward, but doesn’t the past hold keys to the internal and external successes and lessons from which we build on rather then waste (Pluto) our energy( Aries) on re-inventing? The clan ( Cancer) survives because of the bonds forged long ago. Too be a productive Grand Cross doesn’t Jupiter in Cancer expand through the membership to the Clan? How does that work if it’s all about Individualism (Aries) without sacrifice ( squares/ opposition) for the 3 other points: the clan, the other, and the social structure?
The message I arrived at, through this musing, is to take time to reflect on how my actions affect the all energy points involved during this unique time. Wouldn’t that be a good way to work this Grand Cross?
Kite, you may be overthinking it. It’s difficult to break these elements down into small pieces and then try to put them together and they don’t operate the same for everyone.
