Mars leaves Cancer today for the powerful sign of Leo.  Mars is a fire planet, and when it travels through the fire signs the energy of Mars is expressed more fully and with more power and intensity.  While Mars was in Cancer we may have found it difficult to motivate ourselves to take any kind of action, since emotions and feelings were more important under the Cancerian influence.  This infusion of fire will likely instigate a fair amount of activity so it is wise to be somewhat careful not to allow the fire to burn out of control.

Mars provides enthusiasm and fuels our desires, and in Leo those desires become more about fulfilling our individual needs for pleasure and for fun.  Leo is a celebratory sign – there is an open and generous heart and an ability to see the positive even in the midst of darkness.  The energy of Mars in Leo is infectious and can help to motivate even the most sluggish of individuals.  There is some danger that the Leo openness can expand the aggressive force of Mars, and because Leo is a fixed sign there can be a tendency to become stuck in ones desires and find it difficult to seek alternative pathways.

While Mars is in Leo (June 11 – July 29, 2021) it will set off the Saturn/Uranus square which is the story of 2021: the boundaries of control, innovation, repression, liberation.  Mars will form stressful alliances with Uranus in Taurus and Saturn in Aquarius at the end of June and early July at a time when Neptune changes direction to potentially cause confusion and perhaps exacerbate the mass delusion we are seeing in the world.  Not to frighten anyone, but this could be a potentially challenging time to be aware of.  Watch these pages for details as that time gets closer.

In the meantime, under the Leo influence of Mars we can learn to express ourselves with more freedom and more joy – it’s the perfect time, especially with Mercury retrograde, to take an assessment to see what will bring us happiness and a sense of fulfillment, and then Mars in Leo will supply the energy and enthusiasm to go for it. ❤️
