Initially Ceres was named a planet, but as others were discovered in the asteroid belt she was reclassified as an asteroid. In 2006 she was reclassified as a planet along with Eris (and Pluto, but we won’t go there today!), and I started taking her more seriously in astrological charts. Ceres is the place in our chart that connects us to our natural selves. Difficult aspects to Ceres show challenges to our ability to feel safe in our bodily incarnation and denote areas where we need to make a more direct effort to honor the rhythms of nature and to feed and nourish ourselves. On a more global level she reminds us that without a connection to nature we cannot as a species survive. (You can read more about my take on Ceres here.)
When Ceres is in Aries (until May 8, 2021) we tend to possess a fierce independence in taking care of our own needs, and the challenging square to Pluto will both exacerbate that and provide challenges. This aspect has actually been building for a few days and its influence will linger until Ceres moves into Taurus on May 8th. Any Aries influence can inspire action but not necessarily think things through completely, and while we are in the middle of this planetary alignment we will want to be a little more mindful of the food we eat and the ways in which we use our bodies. The cycle of body, mind, spirit may be more delicate at this time and require more management than we typically invest. ❤️

This is a wonderful painting to represent Ceres – I am a Virgo and have always felt she may be a co ruler of the sign – along with Mercury. She rules the harvest and productivity as well. And Virgo’s hard working abilities reflect her. And yes the honoring of nature so critical on our precious planet.
Thanks for this!
I hav e Ceres (conjunct Sun and Mercury) square Pluto (conjunct Moon) in my natal chart. I’ve lost count of the number of near-death experiences I’ve had. It is super crazy miraculous that I am alive (also have Jupiter conjunct Uranus in my 12th house along with the Pluto/Moon conjunction so maybe that is what has kept me alive?).
Pluto and Ceres transits are both near exact trine to my natal Pluto and Ceres today.
I woke up super early with that extreme physical pain/fear in the pit of my stomach that can signal impending doom or complete death and rebirth and have not been able to shake it all day.
Thank you for the possible explanation. I wish that I knew enough about astrology to understand this transit a bit better, It is an intense one.
I’m glad it was helpful, Es, although I would venture to say that the Sun square Pluto by itself is enough to correlate with what you describe. Trines typically don’t cause intense pain or fear, so I imagine there is something else going on. Perhaps it’s a good time for a reading with a trusted astrologer.
